Credit to KyoAni for making the transition into Season 3 feel seamless, but you absolutely need to watch the films and OVA that cover the time between Season 2 and 3. Aside from getting properly introduced to the characters, there's a lot of events that take place there that contributes to shaping the motivations of the characters at present. Take Kumiko, for example. How she is as a band president: how she approaches the competition and how she will handle interpersonal relationships within the band is influenced by all her past experiences so you shouldn't miss out on any part of it.

You need to watch Liz movie, Chikai movie and Ensemble OVA as they cover the 2nd year arc. If you skip those there will be a lot of characters you wont know in S3 It also covers 1/3rd of the story so it makes no sense to skip it honestly as it features a lot of character development for our existing cast as well as new cast.

This anime is super important to my life and it's not even an exaggeration because it was because of it that I started playing the sax, and I watched all the seasons when they came out.

このアニメのモデルは架空ですが、実在の高校吹奏楽部をモデルにしています。京都橘高校吹奏楽部です。アニメの中にもライバル校として出てきます。 そして、アメリカのローズ・パレードに過去２度出場していて、2025ローズ・パレードに3度目の出場をします👍
