Changing tires definitely is the ultimate solution, but I also found that quite a noticeable improvement can be had using the OEM tires if they are sanded with 150-220 grit sandpaper.

I have the 30 but use the rough side. I thought the smooth side is for drifting. Am I wrong? Also, can u share the effects regarding rims offset?

I have recently gotten into mini RC racing and have taped off a little track in my garage on smooth concrete floor. I'm having a lot of fun with it but the car wants to lose traction in the corners and come around on me. So I'm looking to start by upgrading the tires. I've been watching these helpful videos but there's not much describing the different tire compounds and what works best for different surfaces. There is so much to choose from and I'm looking for a little help deciding what to go with. I've seen smooth, radial, and foam with different degrees and widths. Is there something you can recommend for me to get the traction on the smooth concrete floor? I'm kind of looking at the kyosho mini z super soft but like I said not really sure if that would be my best option. And I'm not sure what compound or degree would be best for my situation. Anything I purchase would have to be mail order with shipping costs and unable to return. So I'm hoping to get some advice with one or two options and hopefully get it right and not have to purchase a whole bunch of different tires hoping for the best. The track is about 12 ft x 18 ft with some straightaways and tight cut back corners. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

I never raced mine on any other surface beside the RCP tracks. I think starting out with just the soft radials would be good. The only ones I really messed with were the fronts. I tried the slicks and radials. The soft slicks were almost too much grip and my car would flip around sharp fast corners. It also kind of depends on your driving style… I’d just order a few different ones and see what you like!

@@furiouslycollecting thank you for the reply. That gives me some useful information. I will probably order slicks and radials. And give them a try. They aren't too expensive. The slicks might be the way to go for me. Sounds like they had a little bit too much grip for your surface but on slicker concrete they might be the way to go for me. I appreciate the advice. Thank you

@@cmkpikes what did you go with? I have 30 shore slicks on the front 20 shore slicks on rear and cannot hook up on wood or concrete

That was great! How did the awd do with soft tires? Also, any reason why slicks on the from and radials in the rear and vice versa? Thanks man great vids!

Wheel tape is a must you'll notice down the road after you destroy your car. Rolls and stuff will easily happen when tires slip off rim
