Thanks for braving the crowds Rion. It’s not easy. I also appreciate more of the local walks. I believe there are more and more people who want to experience Japan without visiting the “tourist” spots. Especially if you’ve been multiple times!

When we visited Kyoto in 2019, we used the bus but also used taxis when we wanted a quicker trip to our destination (since the bus stops frequently). Since there were four of us, it was affordable if you broke it down to cost per person.

I had been to Kyoto 1 week ago, going to Kinkakuji wearing kimono. Beautiful indeed! Took many wrong turn, had difficulty using google maps while walking. Always ask bus driver or bus staff if the bus is really going to where I want to go. Ha ha, so sorry for them! Thank you for kind Japanese and non Japanese who show us the way❤
Beautiful. Always such a pleasure experiencing life with you!

Thank you for the Kyoto two-video updates 🎉 I enjoyed watching the Sakura petals fall so beautifully like snow. Gorgeous! Although you went on the wrong bus, you were able to enjoy a reasonably priced and delicious meal. Also, Kitano Shrine was so peaceful and a nice break from the crowds. Can't wait for the next adventure! Gambate Rion! 😊

thanks for your Kyoto videos Rion. I really miss the place even if I last visited back in summer July 2023! Speaking of hopping onto a wrong bus, I did too. It was a night and I was tired and had waited for a really time for the right one to be back to Kyoto station. As you said, it was a travel (tiring but memorable) experience. I would love to be back to visit Kyoto again. 😍🥰 You got me laughing when you said about a "cuter mascot". LOL... I do agree!!

It’s so cool to see you feature Kinkakuji for the first time. ✨ You’ve captured it beautifully-hope doing so was less stressful than taking a photo with it. 😂 I’ve seen photos of it from my friends, and it’s one of the wallpaper options on my laptop. 🤓 Somehow, I thought it was a “palace,” so I really appreciate now knowing it’s a temple & a few other fascinating facts, thanks to your concise history lesson. 😊 And Osaka Station is lookin’ good with the longer sunlight. 😎

As you may know I went to Ritsumeikan University, which is really close to Kitano Tenmangu. A lot of my classmates would go there before tests or exams for good luck. I would go with my friends for special occasions like new years and other matsuri things. However the best time to visit Kitano Tenmagu is 25th of every month. They usually have all the matsuri type stalls out plus a flea market and you can pick up some really cool things. Very cheap Kimonos and other items. It also popular in March for the plum blossom orchard.

WOW such a good deal at Sakura Terrace, few years ago I used to pay more than $200 or $225/night single person at Sakura Terrace The Gallery Hotel during Sakura Hanami. It has a Sakura Terrace sister building that you are staying now and that I stayed one night at each building due to no vacancy during high season before Covid. 🌺

After 2 nights I switched to Hotel Gracery Kyoto Sanjo (2 sister hotels) same rate around $250/night, is located in the Teramachi Shopping Arcade area close to Nishiki market and Pontocho alley-Gion area.

There are still 1 day passes in Kyoto. 800 yen for city subways or 1100 yen for city subways and buses. I was there earlier this month (8-11 April) and actually stayed at a hotel about 100 meter from where you stayed at 😂. I paid 6000 yen a night only.
