Totally off topic for a great video. I only found you this year so am doing a lot of catching up and the choice can be real random so am watching this and thinking that I would love your take on Paris, Lyon and other parts of France. I can relate more to you two so would love to hear your take on that area. I didn’t find these areas on your archives and wonder if that is on your list of places to go. Thanks for any response and sorry for the random question from your Kyoto video.

A lot of the shops in Nishiki market are going out of business because sales are very low.The regular shoppers are tired of the overcrowded street and started shopping elsewhere. The butchers, fishmongers and pickled vegetable stores are losing sales because the tourist don't buy staples to take home and cook and only buy the finger foods and eat the samples.
@susangarland68695 жыл бұрын
And the Japanese, who do buy those staples, avoid Nishiski and the hordes of tourists. Also, our taxi drivers were telling us that, with all the foreigners, shoplifting has become a serious problem.

Hi guys, love your content ! Looks like it's very hot in Kyoto currently. What's the "real feel' temperature currently ? Is it comparable to the heat in some southern European countries in the summer ? I'm asking because I'm planning to go to Japan somewhere in the next 1 to 4 months, and I really can't stand too much heat.

Just returned from a week in Japan, which included a day in Kyoto (Gion, Teramachi, Nishiki). Sadly, those places were so overrun with hordes of rude, loud, ill-mannered tourists that the experience was completely ruined. Kyoto is a beautiful city, but the overwhelming abundance of crass foreigners (especially those from one particular large Asian nation) who have no respect for Japanese culture made going there really unpleasant. Because we're of Japanese descent and speak the language, our taxi drivers were very forthcoming with their opinions about the problem. They are disgusted by it all, as are most other Japanese (very few of them go to these spots), but what can one do? But Sam and Audrey, just by their not eating while walking (at least on video), appear to understand the rules of public behavior in Japan, which is a welcome change from what we actually experienced. If you're thinking of visiting Japan, don't add to the problem -- educate yourself first.
