if any battle in battle bladers had to be a stand alone episode, i’m so glad that it was this one. 50 and 51 go hand in hand, duh lol. this battle, imo, is the best in the season and one of the best in the series. kyoya’s such an intense battler and seeing him put up so much of a fight against ryuga still has me hyped to no end no matter how many times i watch it. the headbutt scene is so cool and the smack talk is so sick i love it. it also gets beefy with l-drago possessing ryuga the way it did, it’s rlly fun to see what that bey does to its owner when its power is too high or left unchecked bc its insane 👀 gives me hella yami marik vibes when he’s possessed too

I think it was because Ryuga was defying the Dark Power for the first time, because Ryuga was fighting on his own terms, and the sentient dark power didn’t like that. The dark power likes control, and to destroy, but Ryuga wasn’t battling for sheer destruction or carnage this time around. For maybe the first time, Ryuga was battling for his own pride, his own blader’s spirit. The more you resist The Dark Power instead of accept it as your own, the worse its hold over you gets, as that’s revealed later in the series.

At best Kyoya would've gotten a tie which is actually pretty damn impressive or Ryuga would've just barely won which again is extremely impressive for Kyoya and that doesn't make him trash or anything like that. L-Drago was unsure of the outcome so it decided to take over to guarantee the win is how I saw it.

I don't think Reiji is stronger than Doji or Phoenix. Gingka struggled way less than he did against Phoenix. Yu is definitely stronger than Kenta, even with the friendship boost. Yu was caught off-guard against Reiji and he was still able to escape.

Peak Doji is definitely stronger than Tsubasa in Metal Fusion. Tsubasa got his ass handed to him by Phoenix in mere seconds, whereas Doji manhandled him throughout most of their fight, even when Doji was holding back.

Burn Fireblaze was just standing in place, and it repelled Tsubasa’s oncoming attack like it was nothing, and send both Tsubasa and Eagle back, not even in one attack. In one parry. Tsubasa lost because he just wasn’t strong enough to compete with Phoenix yet. Doji on the other hand was able to consistently able to go toe-to-toe with Phoenix, blow after blow, with even Phoenix being overwhelmed. Fact still stands that Tsubasa couldn’t even hold his own in a head on attack against Phoenix, whereas Doji matched or even exceeded Phoenix’s power several times. In terms of sheer strength, Doji well exceeds Tsubasa at this point of the series.

Only thing holding this episode back is the bad animation quality. I don't really know what happened. The character models look off, the bit beast models look off, proportions are weird. Had that been better it would probably be my favourite

Considering 2010, the animation is decent. Animating spinning tops with all the effects wasn't easy and it was already far better than plastic generation.
