I always try to use local music in my travel videos. A lot of what I got was more synthy, pop-oriented. But I love the more traditional instrumentation and vocals. Check out my Mongolia videos, especially the ones where I record traditional Kazakh music.

Returning my memories to my childhood. My geologist’s parents were working and living in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, and China, and I was with them all time. Growing up, I worked in the same region and was always impressed with one of the best wildernesses in the world, climbing all peaks around. I would love to go one day here again.

Thanks Howard! There are a few places I'd like to visit on a return trip. They have some 7000m peaks on the border with China and another on the border with Tajikistan that look amazing for trekking, and then there his the Pamir Highway to Tajikistan and possibly the Wakhan Corridor in Afghanistan.

June. It's still snowy in higher elevations and not all passes are open. By late June, it really starts to warm up. When I arrived in Bishkek, it was cold, near freezing at night, and by the time I left at the end of June it was already 35ºC.

Early June. It was a bit cold and snowy at the higher elevations, but at least I got to see some ice on the lake. A week or two earlier and I wouldn't have been able to do my trek due to snow and as it was, it was barely passable. It also snowed at Song Kul and was still below freezing. By the time I left, however, it was already in the 30º's C in Bishkek.
