Kyrie left Boston BECAUSE they did so well in the playoffs without him and Heyward. Those playoffs meant that Kyrie would never be seen as the BIG STAR of this rapidly rising team. At that point he was too immature and all he wanted was to be THE man on a team that won the trophy (the same reason he left Cleveland). Maybe in that following year he started to mature - was willing to play with KD, but by then he'd already mentally burned his bridges with his teammates. Seems like he's matured now - but he burned bridges throughout his NBA career.

im a celtics fan and you pretty much nailed everything, but you missed a very important pert. its important to emphasize how much IT meant to the city after that playoff run, and when he got traded we were sad but we welcomed kyrie as the right choice for the team and loved him. then ofc, all the promises and lies. but he was supposed to replace someone who gave the city everything he had, and he just ended up being a snake and put us in a 3 year hole we had to climb out of. but mainly thats what fuels our rage, is that we all gave up on IT for this guy.

I live in Massachusetts and I'm a die hard Celtics fan. I was really excited that Kyrie was traded here as he is a generational talent. The way he left and acted before and after leaving will forever make him hated in Boston. I, however don't hate him and I still fully respect his skill and commitment to the game. I do feel like the Boston fans go too far at times with the hatred of Kyrie, but we want to win and Kyrie did not leave gracefully. Celtics fans celebrate nearly all past Celtics players. We didn't get mad at Al Horford for leaving for a better payday. We embraced him when he came back. We even still embrace Ray Allen. Kyrie was like an ultimate betrayal made worse by his gaslighting, distasteful antics, and slander.

I'm a Boston native, I watched "Kyrie Irving talks about his time on the Boston Celtics on Twitch" on yt. it's much more nuanced than this, and it changed my perspective a lot. Time goes on, people change, nothing but love for Kyrie.

I am FROM Boston and I have to say I am the only person I know that still LOVES Kyrie out here. I heavily relate to his philosophies on things (except flat earth) but he is an unconventional NBA legend yet to prove his true greatness alongside Luka who is all-time great in the making. I FORESAW this coming from the middle of the season when Mavs built up a bit of momentum with a streak of wins. I told my co-worker that he was heavily underestimating Luka and Kyrie and he genuinely thought I was talking trash. I tweeted LONG AGO that Boston would regret treating Kyrie as shitty as they did and I posted my Celtics jersey. I dislike the Celtics fandom because like LeBron and Kyrie seem to think, I can attest to the fact that Boston fans ARE weird in a racial way. The whole antis3m1t1k shit also brings up racial tension in Massachusetts as there are neighborhoods in Boston that have many jews. I don't fault Kyrie for leaving even when he basically promised not to, people have to do what is best for them at the end of the day. I literally told SO MANY PEOPLE that Boston will regret how they treated Kyrie AND that he still has at least one more ring in him. Look at them in the finals vs Kyrie now. I still have my Celtics Kyrie jersey and I wear it proudly in public.

America is a racist country what's your point? Boston is one of the most beautiful and best places in the country and most people who live there aren't racist you don't know what your talking about you've never lived in Boston or experienced any racism there so how would you know? You're just talking out your ass and plus there's racist people in every state and every city quit cherry picking.

Most if not all major cities have a history of racism doesnt mean its like that now. That narrative is so played out by now. You deadass acting like dallas doesnt have a racist past. Shit, most of texas still has that racist stereo type till this day, you cant really say that about Boston/MA as a whole anymore.

Boston has never treated Bill Russell bad they always treated him with respect if you never lived here or visited this place then shut your mouth. You not from here and every state and place you go to will have racist people because America is a racist country! So that's a bad argument the city of Boston is nice and beautiful 😍.

As someone from Boston I’m very bias because kyrie is the player who made me fall in love with basketball IT got me to watch but as I got older and kyrie came along me and my dad being undersized would practice all his move and now basketball is my favorite sport. Kyrie has been my favorite player since then and will continue to be. I predicted this finals in preseason and couldn’t be more excited. I’ve tried to go to every game I could that’s in Boston against kyrie because the energy in TD garden when he is there is unmatched and it’s something you just can’t get outside of a playoff game.

If the Celtics lose it’s going to be because of this. Fans will be so harsh that Kyrie will go off just like 2022 Finals when everyone was talking about Steph’s wife’s cooking. lol. I remember saying “shut up everyone this is what’s going to make Steph go off and win” and it did. I’m a Celtics fan myself but some fans go way too far.

Kudos to you mikerphone for making this video.!! Kyrie may be different in Dallas but it’s because I’m sure his agent told him this will be your last chance no other NBA team are inquiring about you.!! Even though kyrie said that the earth 🌎 is flat. Hes no fool money 💴 talks. And he needs a new contract.!!

As someone from Boston, the hate for Kyrie is real and deserved. We traded two of the team favorites in IT and crowder, plus a draft pick that could have been SGA!!!! just for him to leave. And it’s not the fact that he left it’s how he left. He said nationally in the announcement everyone saw about planning on staying. Local outlets he kept saying it right up until the all star break when him and KD made their decision. Then you have the playoffs his final season here. He flat out quit on the court, watch that final series he played here and you can see it! The quitting on the team was the worst of it to us here. Then coming back with other teams, burning sage? Seriously? 😂 Stomping on lucky at mid court gtfoh with all that. 0 for his last 11. He’s an incredible talent but that arrogance is gonna show back up at some point and he’s gonna continue to sail right off the edge of our flat earth 🙄
