Please, Miyako is your name and is it also the name of a city in Japan? Well, seeing you showing how you dress and wear the Dogi and Hakama, I was reflecting precisely on the evolution of these garments from the times of the ancient Japanese emperors to the present day. As you point out, this is a mandatory uniform for the solemnity of the act. So, whoever created or designed these uniforms thought of the mobility of Kyudo practitioners. Mainly to spread the legs when positioning to shoot the arrow at the target. These are details that show the seriousness and respect of everyone involved with this art, that's why I'm so fascinated by Kyudo !!! Thank you so much once again for kindly sharing this knowledge!!!

You have learnt from history. That's wonderful. You know more than I do. Miyako, yes, there was a time when Kyoto was called Miyako. Thank you for your love of Kyudo. I love Kyudo too, and I always will. I will continue to do my best to make videos so that Kyudo can spread around the world.

thank you for this wonderful video. I've been looking for instructions on how to wear a hakama for women for so long. I am very happy, thank you very much! Can you maybe also recommend something where to order a Japanese Hakama for women (for Kyudo) like this one you wearing in the video? thank you!

I am happy to be of help. I started this KZbin to make a digital textbook of Kyudo. I don't know of any place that sells hakama abroad. You want to wear a beautiful hakama for Kyudo, don't you? I'll see if I can find a better way.

@Carola I recently bought a hakama from a Japanese Kyudo shop called Asahi Archery. They were very helpful and had good english in the email exchange. If you are still looking, please give them a try.

Thanks a lot for this video ! I practice aikido and was wondering about the differences of tying a hakama for men and women. From what I gather, men tie them on the hips under the belly whereas women tie them higher, at the waist. Is that correct ? Do you have more details to share regarding the different ways to wear them ? Thanks a lot !
@Kyudo-love Жыл бұрын
Basically, men and women tie the same knot. However, it should suit you so that it is not too painful when you move. And it is important that the hakama does not fall off when you are moving. It can shift position depending on your body shape.

Hi, thank you for the explanation. I have a question about obi - can woman wear 9cm x 380cm obi that is told to be for men? The one you wear looks like kaku obi but I am not sure. Is it a problem if I wear kaku obi or is it ok? Your opinion would really help me, thanks in advance! 🌸
@Kyudo-love2 жыл бұрын
A men's obi will be fine. Women's obis are too soft and will come loose.

I am saving up to buy a Hakama from Japan. What strap lengths should I consider to wear it like this? I'm thinking a 34" length Hakama, and I'm 5'7", but mostly all leg lol
@Kyudo-love Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question. So you are buying Hakama? Basically, I don't want it to be too short. I will make a video on how to adjust the length next time.

Is there a difference between the hakama in aikido or is there a difference in the hakama between women and men?
@Kyudo-love10 ай бұрын
I don't know the difference with Aikido, but in Kyudo, there is no difference between men and women.
