I love the bike! I learned on a Kawasaki KE100 if I remember right. Pure fun that doesn’t cost as much as a second mortgage

You have a nice bike. Those tk22 carbs can be a little finicky. Be sure to check the over flow tubes in the bowls for hairline cracks. My 80 550 had all 4 cracked. I just soldered them up and have been fine for years now.

Congratulations! Sounds pretty decent but with some more fine tuning - going to have a nice bike when done it looks like.. 👍👍👍

You know I take my cordless reciprocating cutter put a piece of heater hose on a narrow profile blade and or wrap a piece of cloth around the blade and Touch it to the side of the carburetor bowls it acts like an ultrasonic cleaner and polishes the needle and seat together I've stopped a lot of carburetors from pissing fuel that way ..generally the top of the floats will parallel with the carburetor bowl seal surface if they're the correct height ..if you have to pull them off again you might want to bench test them to make sure they're not leaking before you go through all the trouble of putting them back on tilt them to the left-right forward and back about 15 degrees the overflow tube shouldn't piss gas if the floats are set right .. if you have a steady hand you can take a Dremel and create a 45 degree relief bevel in the end of them rubber boots so they will slip on a little easier a broader fatter bit is easier to control also working them with your hand kind of stretch the ends open a bit will help soften them I usually smear a little dielectric grease in them so they will slip on a little easier you can also hose them down with WD-40 or kerosene wintergreen oil will also soften them really good just let them sit for a while .. you can also take a file and put a light 45 degree bevel on the back of the carburetor Ventura horns a heat gun comes in handy too .. if you have threaded removable seats make sure the gaskets are good and that they're tight so they won't bypass any fuel .. and as far as your bogging situation run it down the road and crack your choke open a little to see if it makes it better or worse one of the best ways to know if your running rich or lean is to do a chop test go out about 3-4 miles away from your driveway run her about 65 mph back to your driveway then kill the motor and read your spark they should be dry and a little tan in color you can also do a static tests on the transition of the small jet to the main jet by fluctuating the throttle from idle to open about one-eighth of the way for about 15 minutes and then read the plugs again but usually in that case when you crack that throttle open if it's stumbly it's too rich you can take a whiff of the exhaust pipe and smell raw fuel that means the needle needs to be dropped ... Or if it hesitates surges and hiccups you need to raise the needles you can sync your carbs pretty close while they off the bike by putting a feeler gauge in between the horn and the slide at the front of the carburetor and adjusting them all to the same value that will get them close there's also videos on how to make your own homemade carb vacuum sync gauges

Back fire on deceleration is too lean. You have to adjust air screws. Turn them in to richen the low speed circuit. Idling hanging on deceleration and and bogging is lean on the low end. It should drop right to idle. If the floats float and the needles look ok polish the seats with a Q tip with pumice hand cleaner or buffing compound in a drill for about 30 seconds or so. Ocellate the drill in a small circle when polishing.

Your needles aren't seating, or bad floats. Time to take the carbs off and test both.

I had the same problem with my kz. It would be one of 4 things, a faulty seat, debris impinging the float, a high float setting, or the overflow vavle may have a hairline crack. Its most likely a high float. Check all the above, and get a good metric ruler, float should be at 18mm +/-1mm from the top of the bowl to the line of the float. There is line/crease above the rounded edge of the float, thats where tou measure from. I adusted and cleaned my bowl and floats and it runs great. Btw i just bought mine a couple months ago. 5k miles. These engines will last forever if maintenanced. I knew a guy with 160k miles on his.

Give the bowls a little smack with a screwdriver handle or something. Prolly a sticky float. Some carb cleaner in with the gas also and run it around. My boy and I are putting a 71 cl 175 back together so gonna be in the same boat with carbs soon. Only 2 though.

This time it's not YT. I'm a night owl and tend to do my editing/uploading late at night. I'm so busy during the day working outside that I have to do it that way. I could schedule the videos to come out early in the morning if you think that'll be better. Thanks for the feedback!
