Hey Dave, I don't know if you have any insight or opinions on it but if so, I was wondering; with the DBX 160's, (the later, non-VU, X, XT and A), since the 80's I've noticed guitarists always go for the 160A's. From what I've read, there's no actual _circuit_ differece between the X, XT and A and those designations only have to do with when/where they were built. With the only tangible differences being that the XT (I think, I know its one of them) has an option of installing a transformer and of course the original X model has the terminal strip in's and out's. Despite reading that, there are some people - many of them very successful and knowledgeable engineers and producers - who swear they prefer one to another sound wise. So, I can understand how a guitarist would avoid the 160X because of the terminal strips and lack of 1/4" balanced phono jacks - but in your opinion, is there any othet reason why they'd prefer the 160A to say the 160XT? Or why some studio engineers swear by the X and XT?

I prefer the 160X. It has that classic session tone. The 160A ,which is in the shop rack ,is not as bright. I am going to swap it out for a 160X.

What do you guys recommend or use yourselves when you encounter a ground loop caused by the rack case itself? I bought some humfrees and it solved my issue I'm just not a huge fan of how they look. It's stupid, I know lol. But are there washers of some kind that will do the same thing?

ISO Transformer. Mainly output of the preamp.

What do you think about the axe tx for effects?
@danielconrad7642 күн бұрын
As an owner of both 80s rack gear and the axe fx for equivalent effects, I find myself always reaching for the rack gear. YMMV
