No shame in walking down steep grades on an unfamiliar bike. I once climbed a grade, so steep , that when I turned to go down, I had to ask for a lift for me and the bike. The driver said, " That's why you're still alive. You understand when there is real danger." Cheers to both of you! That looked fun.

You are riding really good on that gravel To say you we’re both on vintage bikes with skinny tyres and you had little time to get used to the bikes. You had never been to that area before. Not bad Amy, not bad at all.

Stonking! I did the L'Eroica Britannica in 2015 and 2017 from Bakewell through the Peak District..Fantastic ride, great atmosphere but the original blows it out of the water! That's another one to add to the list for next year. Anyway, you both looked like you had a cracking time. It's amazing where a bit of creativity, hard work and personality can take you. I'm sure the adventures will keep on rolling.

Hi Amy & Kyle What an opportunity, what an adventure. Italy 🇮🇹 is the Mecca of cycling for mine. Try to have all my bikes Italian themed and all my clothes too. Amy, what do you do for a job as you have really made your channel take off from its fledgling days x Best to you both for 2024

@@amy.cycling.adventures yes i started road riding in 87 - it was the holy grail to have campag groupsets. Took 2 years to save up for my first proper roadbike - Pete Matthews handbuilt 531c campag chorus group and wheels, cinelli bars & stem and miche post and selle saddle. Pete was doing bike fits then, so its not a new thing, a true master craftsman and wheelbuilder - that bike fitted like a saville row suit. I was off! The really big difference for mine has been the clothing, it was awful back than and even worse as the temp dropped much tougher as protection was a minimal lol.

Unfortunately what were once very down-to-earth events are being totally ruined by companies that charge an absolute fortune and pamper their clients rotten. I know, not much that can be done about it, but it's transformed the nature of cycling. A bit of a shame, really. p.s. it might have been worth mentioning that the full Eroica is actually 209 km long.
