Smiling strangers various depending on where you live. For instance, in CA or southern states like in FL or TX people tend to smile each other more whereas less people do in North Eastern states like in NY or MA.

I think that just looking at people without saying anything can be taken as being rude in the states. My co-worker from NY once told me that if you look at people without saying anything, you would probably get a response of “What’re you looking at” or worse in NY. Even in Cali, I have seen a mother correcting her child who was looking at a stranger and said it was rude. Let’s say I look at someone because of the glasses he/she was wearing, and that someone noticed and look at me. I would probably excuse myself for looking at that person and would talk about the glasses. It’s just my humble opinion...

Thanks for sharing! There is a big difference between countries😳😳
Some foreigners, especially men on SNS suddenly compliment women, and they say they can teach English. But, Don't tell them your LINE, WhatsApp or some ID. That means, they might get involved in some dangerous crimes. Please be careful guys!

I don't get as much compliments in Japan. 😂 " Micchan is so charming, and I love your original character, and you are cute and so funny, and you are smart. 😊❤" Micchan, are you okay?😊 でも、あの不満満載のどや顔は、なかなか、可愛いと思いました。
Thank you so much!」
