Tom definitely sold me on this game! It sounds perfect for my group. Does anyone know how to get ahold of an English copy?

All right, Tom. You got me with this one. I bought a copy from Japan after watching this. It looks amazing.

Bought this on Essen 2018 as it is a eurogame and looked like it had something funny with respect. Ended up on my shelves in wrap until a week ago when I found this review and suddenly also popping up on instagram with positive feedback. I realized I had it on my shelves (mind you Ive only like 15 games larger than a pack of cards/the mind/sushi go sized game) and decided to give it a go. I and many different friends/boardmates were amazed by this game. The gameplay is really tight and has a lot of depth to it. It is a very interactive eurogame as you're trying to figure out what others might do (Race for the galaxy) yet you're also more directly competing through the tournament and limited skills/recruits. First time may play like 1,5-2hrs, but soon after it will take just 1hr. There are no take-thats either. All in all very good, rate 9/10.

I wonder how long it took Tom to find all the kanji to write out the title.

Probably not long as it's also on BGG :)

I was just literally typing how this art style reminds me of Samurai Jack, when Tom said it =D

Just to split a hair or two here: If its Japanese, it would have to be Karate not KungFu and Sensei not Shifu...;-)

Its a Japanese game but the setting is clearly China, the kickstarter for the game also explicitly mentions Kung Fu. Which admittedly does make it weird that they're using Sake and not wine.

Haha, It should be 师父(shifu), not 老师(laoshi)! It's master, not teacher!

Kind of reminds me of the old card game Ninja Burger, only respect in place of honor

Is that Mukai from the King of Fighters?

The only thing I missed here was the actual descriptions of the "tasks" you're giving your students. I'd want to know, from a thematic, story pov, what exactly I was asking these guys to do, and why they were being rewarded with sake (which doesn't seem like the type of thing you'd be asking for, in return for your services, if you wanted to be respected (but maybe I'm missing some cultural subtext)). Maybe this information is present in the kanji, but I don't know how to read that, and would've appreciated if Tom had been like "This task says you're carrying water to the village, or you're buying a new weapons rack for the dojo". If I'm way off base with my expectations, and I'm asking too much, please let me know! Cool looking game at any rate.
