I discovered TTB about a year ago and immediately became a huge fan. A couple of weeks ago I went to see them live - first concert I’ve been to in decades. It was amazing, to see the least. Now I get it when I hear people say they’re the best touring band out there. There are a few great KZbin videos of their concerts at Red Rocks in Colorado. My favorite is Space Captain.

Nice choice. A little factoid this song was written by back up singer Mike Mattison, he was the lead singer on the last TTB video you did, I Walk on Guilded Splinters.
@chitownlee2 ай бұрын
The song was written by Mike Mattison who was playing acoustic guitar and singing backup in this video. He was the lead singer in The Derek Trucks band until Derek merged his band with Susan's band, that's why they're so many musicians in their band.

Yeah dude I saw that tear wipe . I was at Hunter Mountain's Mountain Jam Festival that Derek appeared at on several occasions . It was a Beautiful Afternoon as they were playing this . And Yes , That solo by Derek had tears coming from my eyes . He tapped into something so Emotional in that solo it just tears at your soul , especially if you are a music freak and "Get" music on a slighty different way than most people 🙂

Mike Mattison who sings back-up with the TTB with an occasional lead vocal appearance , wrote this song . He has been with Derek since he debuted with The Derek Trucks band in the late 90's . Kofi Burbridge on Keyboards (RIP 😞) had also been with Derek going back to the dTb . And on Bass is Kofi's Brother , Oteil , who held down the bottom end for the Allman Brothers Band when Derek was in the band from '99 - 2014 .

I'm going to be honest, I'm really new to the band. I first heard of them because I follow Taj Farrant. He was performing at The Byron Bay Bluesfest, and so were they. Taj's dad said that when Taj met them, it was probably the closest he was to getting starstruck. When he has performed with superstars like Carlos Santana, Taj's dad said he wasn't starstruck, and he asked him why. He told him they just play guitar like he does. This was when he was 10. Derek Trucks is one the best slide guitar players out there. I could listen to this song over and over again, and I have. I know Taj hasn't played the slide live, but he watches and learns. He's 15 now and opened for Buddy Guy tonight. His first album, Chapter One, comes out in a couple of weeks on 8/28/2024. I'm flying to Phoenix to see him for the first time a week later. If you get a chance, check out Taj playing Purple Rain with Prince's band NPG and then watch him play one of Prince's deep cuts, The Ride at the State Theater. A song to react to is Taj performing Gary Moore's Parisienne Walkways at the City Winery in Nashville or The Sky is Crying (he sings) in Tulsa Oklahoma.Taj was the special guest performer at the 40th anniversary celebration for Prince's Purple Rain release. He got to hear unreleased music in the vault, record at Prince's studio and perform at Paisley Park. Not bad for 15. He is going to be one of the best to have played. There's a reason many have said he has to be the reincarnation of SRV and others. Who knows maybe his little spirit was busy hanging out with all the guitar legends before he was born.

Idk where Duane would be today. I'm sure unbelievable, but we'll never know. Regardless, Derek is at least as good, maybe better. (Duane only reached 24, remember.) What can you say about Susan, and the rest of the band?! Amazing! ..R.I.P., to Kofi Burbridge..A tremendous musician, taken far too soon!
