About a year ago you asked why Americans are so happy. And what you could do to become happy like us. Here's the secret to happiness beyond your belief. Buy a Bible. Read it, and read it again, and read it again. Once you start to understand what you're reading God's words will start to talk to you. Slowly you'll start to change. If you surrender your life to God and live to the ways he instructs us in the Bible, good will bless you beyond your beliefs. B ible I nstructions B efore L eaving E arth Here's another secret. Open up the New testament and start reading about Jesus. You will soon learn that the Bible states that the wages of sin is death.That payment is death. But God loves us so much that he doesn't want to see us perish in that way. He sent Jesus to us as a Savior. Jesus is all of our sacrificial lamb. He's offered to receive God's wrath for us so we don't have to experience it for all eternity. Jesus took God's wrath for every single one of us, for every single sin that we've ever committed and ever will commit. Jesus suffered that pain. Unselfishly absorbed everything for us. That is how much he loves us. By doing so, he paid our fines to God. All we need to do to receive the benefits of the sacrifice Jesus made for us, is to repent of our sins and then acknowledge with your mouth that Jesus died for our sins, and 3 days later was resurrected by God from the dead. Therefore allowing us to be saved by the blood of the Lamb. Call out his name as he will answer you this i promise. Tell him you want to know him. He will show you his love.He will send upon you the Holy Ghost to guide you. He will change your heart, give you new life and new priorities. You will learn love, and forgiveness, you will feel new and alive, and when you know and live by the Lord's word, you will see the world for what it really is. If you've made it this far please understand. Only Jesus can save your soul from the second death. If you put your trust in Jesus, He will save your soul and give you eternal life. John 3:16-17 (KJV) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. Romans 5:10 (KJV) For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. Romans 5:9 (KJV) Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. Romans 5:15 (KJV) But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. You cannot earn salvation. It's only a gift we must seek out from the Lord. No matter how much of a good person we thing we are, none of us are worthy of heaven without the grace of God and the sacrifice Jesus made for us. John 14:6 (KJV) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Bless you for reading this. 777 more blessings if you'll follow through

Howdy from Texas. Regarding the number of toilets in American homes. Two is the norm. However three toilets is not uncommon either. The last house I lived in had three toilets. One for the master bedroom, One in the upstairs hallway for guests who sleep over, and one downstairs adjacent to the living room so that nobody has to go upstairs just to take a piss or anything else. And even single story homes here almost always have at least two toilets as well. One for the master bedroom, ( so that Mom and Dad have their own toilet. And another for the kids. )

While growing up here in my part of NY my grandfather always had a pickup and a small car. The pickup was strictly for towing his tractor to the camp or to the wood lot, for hauling firewood or for getting items too big to fit in the car. Other than being used for its' purpose it either sat in the driveway or was parked in the garage. The car was used for shopping and travel.

Growing up in Ohio, I only saw guns out during hunting season, and in Alabama, my aunt had me target shoot. I've never seen a gun used to harm somebody, let alone carried around. I lived overseas for ten years, and there is this impression that we are all simply wandering the streets with our guns blazing for all to see. It's very funny and you have to laugh.

My brother was a Navy SEAL and one night he and his wife and my Hubby and I went for a walk on the beach after a great dinner and a guy began to follow us. As we started twoards the parking lot the man walking behind us pulled a grun out and I swear it was the slowest 1/2 a second in my life my brother had taken the man’s weapon and had his own grun (KZbin) pointed at the scary guy and said , “you want to go now don’t you?” And the man ran off. We went straight to the car and the rest of us were shaken up it was wonderful to know that we had a SEAL with us but somewhere in my mind he was still a little bit just my big brother but not after that night!!! He really was a Superhero to the rest of us!! But it was still really scary!!!! My brother carefully checked the other guy’s grun and it was loaded so he poured the ammunition into the car’s ashtray, wrapped the grun in something and put them both into the back of the car and drove straight to the police station. Then he took them into the station and explained what happened. Two cops came out and spoke to us for about 5 minutes got our IDs and information and said they would call if they needed us. I can imagine what could have happened to us… so no more beach walking after dark for the rest of us for many many many years!!! 😮😢😢 Thank God my brother was with us!!! We didn’t have any idea that he had a grun on him at all but I’m so happy he did if only to make it easier for him to stop that man.. I know he could have done it all by himself…. but I was really happy he was licensed to carry that night!!! I was literally shaking when the cops came out to talk to us. They were so nice and kept trying to reassure us that it was all over but I was so afraid we’d have to “pick him out of a line up” or something but said they had gotten all they needed. Today the might have made us all come inside but thankfully they just let us go home!!!! I bet it didn’t hurt that we were in Coronado where they SEALs trained! 😊🦭❤🇺🇸

I also live in Ohio. Other than hunting, and on cops/troops I have seen one gun on a citizen. One time at McDonald's I saw an older guy raise his coat up a tad to pull his wallet out of his pocket, and saw a gun holstered on his belt. He wasn't flashing it around or anything, but saw it. If you see a gun that is about the extent of it.

@jvleasure3 күн бұрын
@tommygilbreath if i had 200 of them, only one or two would get used on a regular basis. Most of them don't get used but a couple times a year. Majority were/are older historic pieces, as in a collection that i occasionally do target shoot with. Iconic things like WWI and WWII rifles and pistols, family pieces, couple wild west type guns. And some guns have a more utilitarian purpose, like hunting, and if a better option comes around, most people don't sell the older piece and just stick the old one in the safe with the more currently needed/ used option. If you still like the thing, it doesn't cost you anything to let it collect dust, it might be useful again. Case in point, i didn't get rid shotgun when my state legalized straight-wall rifles for deer and i built a more modern rifle for that. I do have a carry permit and have a couple that fit that role. Rural area, I'd call it very safe overall. But meth and the like make people do stupid things, and you can't know if today is going to be the day you wish you had something. Couple years ago, we had an issue with my dad's cousin, specifically, and meth got him pretty bad. Long story short, he isn't welcome here, and the main reason i carry every day, but showed up again a couple years after THE incident with him went down. He was docile and left, so violence was not necessary. Other than that, i grew up shooting for fun on the farm, so it doesn't feel unnatural like it might for people with different upbringings.

@@DimndSLM I'm not judging those who do get rescues, I just don't think people have to announce that their pet is a rescue.
@DimndSLM2 күн бұрын
@ I guess you didn’t understand my response. It’s because we need to encourage other people to do the same and the more times you say that the more it goes into somebody’s head. i’m curious, you’re not from America are you? Most people I know all want to help rescues. I did hear that people from Britain and other countries aren’t so open and welcoming to people. They don’t like to have conversations. So if it’s bothering you to have a conversation, just scroll on by. I have a relative who was living off the government for the last 30 years, or so which now she died in an apartment fire with her pup that she paid $3000 for and had it shipped in from Texas to California because she wanted a certain breed and she didn’t want to take a rescue. There’s so many animals that need that love and attention and there’s no reason why they shouldn’t be able to find a home. I think that it’s good to remind people of that every chance we get. If you don’t want to hear it, let it drop to the ground. You don’t need to condemn me for it just cause you lack understanding of how people function. It was an unnecessary comment, but you found it important, so I was wondering if it made you feel better being able to put me down for saying something that I’m very thankful for. These are precious gifts from God, literally, the last four years of my life was lots of death in my family and I’m the one who gets to put all the funerals together. I had a lot of alone time, even though I’m married, I had to be away from home for two years and if it weren’t for my cat, I don’t know how I would’ve gone through all that. I lost both of my dogs within 9 months of each other and this wonderful golden retriever happened to be at the pound, it was a baby and what a wonderful blessing to be able to fill our home and these animals have an opportunity to have a better life. My cat was about 3 years old when I met him and I’ve had them for 4 1/2 years now. Best blessing I didn’t even know I needed, and the fact is some people pay thousands for pets and that’s lovely for them, but I think it’s also difficult to watch people breeding them especially when they’re not done well, I’ve seen a lot of horrible things in my life. I’ve always worked with patients for 18 years with my late husband. I have cared a lot for people and animals. Hopefully, if you have an open heart, you can find one that’s meant especially for you. If not, you might already have some beautiful creatures that have blessed your life, but I don’t think so. If so, you would have a better understanding.

I just bought a new Crystal Black Pearl 2025 Honda Odyssey Elite minivan last week. It's sharp for a minivan, as Honda has gone to all blacked out grills, so couple that with a nice dark black paint job, with just a touch of chrome trim along the bottom of the windows, and some kick ass wheels, it looks like the Batmobile of minivans. Traded in my 2016 Ford F150 with less than 15K miles on it. Hated to do that, but I couldn't get in it to drive it anymore. I'm handicapped, and since Covid (Oct 2020), I haven't driven. We had a 2008 Odyssey with 172K miles on it, and it was just starting to have some mechanical issues and it wasn't worth spending money on repairs. When I was growing up in the 80s, and 90s, there was a time that my family of 4 had 5 vehicles. A 1985 GMC Suburban (before they changed the name to Yukon-XL), a 1988 Buick Park Avenue, my 1989 Ford Mustang LX, my sister's 1991 Ford Escort GT, and then we had an old 1977 Forest Service Chevy C15 Pick-up. Our household has at least 5 Bibles, even though we’re not very religious (I used to be when younger). We have two full bathrooms (2 toilets, 1 jacuzzi tub, 1 regular bathtub, and two showers). Great reaction.

I can probably count on one hand the number of times I have seen just a regular person open-carry a gun out in public (as opposed to concealed carry, which I wouldn’t see 🤪).

Th list checks out. My husband and I are the only drivers in our home and we own 5 vehicles (minivan, commuter car, truck, SUV…and a boat). My house has 3 thrones. I own several firearms and I see 3-5 citizens open carry a month. There are about 4 bibles in my home and churches everywhere. I currently just have chickens, but I’ve owned multiple dogs, cats, and horses all at once.

Everyone I know has 3 bathrooms, I own 4 Holy Bibles. My daughter has 8, and we use them all daily. I always have 1-4 dogs. Wear leggings mostly over jeans. There are so many churches to choose from depending on your denomination. As for cars, every family I know has a car for every member who has a drivers license, has their own car, and some spare.

There are two of us but I am the only driver. We have a truck, a car a mid-size SUV, and several mobility scooters. We live in a rural community with a half acre of land, many fruit trees, a large garden, ducks and chickens. I need the truck to haul supplies and take trash, mostly yard and garden waste, to the dump. The SUV gets better millage so when we need to go to the city for supplies we use it, unless we need more than it can handle. The car gets the best millage, so we use it around town, but my wife's wheelchair takes up most of the trunk meaning it's no great for trips into the city. We have five dogs one large German Shepard and four little happy dogs. No one gets close to our house without our knowing. I live in a Constitutional Carry state, anyone that isn't a prohibited person can carry a concealed firearm with put any kind of license. Most people that carry will conceal their firearm. We go to church every Sunday and have multiple bibles in our home. Now days we mostly use digital versions I have one on my phone, on both my computers, on my iPad, and on my Chromebook. We read them all the time. Technically we get a free gym membership through our health insurance but other than the city pool there is no gym in our little community. Yesterday, I hauled about 30 gallons of water out to our birds and garden, the day before, I hauled 420 pounds of feed out our birds. Who needs a gym when we live in a rural community. I have sweatpants on now, I wear them almost all the time, I'm normally working outside much of the time. We have two bathrooms but one is being remodeled currently.

Cars. My husband and i have always had one car. He worked close enough to home that he rode an E bike. We've been married for over 25 years and always did things together. No need for extra insurance coverage and gas. Last year about this time, we broke down and bought a new car. Our other car was costing us a mint and was always in the shop. We are seniors and cant really use public transport anymore, so we took the plunge. The KIA is MY car, lol. We bought her (her name is Hampster, a Kia Soul). She had 8,000 miles on her. That was December 31, 23. We JUST turned her over to 10,000 miles! Yes, California is a car culture, but we don't drive for the hell of it. We plan our trips out. My daughter and her 20 year old daughter shared a car up until a couple of months ago, my granddaughter bought her first car. We are unusual cases. Most families that can aford it, the kids will get a car fairly soon after they get their permanent license. Mainly because the majority of kids get jobs when they turn 16. Lewis, remember, this country is HUGE! An average commute to work, ONE WAY, can take 45 min. To an hour. My ex used to commute to work and back 170 miles! Most of the time its because the "office" is in an area that is more expensive to live by. My granddaughter drives 30 miles one way to work. Her mom, my daughter has been working from home since March 2020 when Covid hit. Lots of people now work from home, saving gas, childcare, and money on fast food kunches, lol. 😊

I own ~25 different translations of the Bible in physical form in addition to a number of electronic editions; I have several duplicates of the same that don’t fall into the ~25. The oldest I have is a family Bible from the 1880s I picked up in a second-hand book store in the 1980s. In addition to weighing over 10 lbs. it is filled with full page highly detailed engravings based on different Bible accounts, a dictionary of specific phrases or terms different than modern (even in the 1880s) usage (eg, talent: in 1st century a talent was a unit of money … not a thing a could do), and colored section on botany and wildlife. I’ve got a couple that are interlinear (English/Hebrew or English/Greek). With the decision of many hotels to discontinue their presence, I was able to snag (from the front desk upon request) a copy of a Gideon Bible (for UKers, the Gideon’s are a religious society who originally formed around the notion of ensuring a Bible in every hotel room). My two “I have to get these because it’s a concept I just can’t pass up” is a Duct Tape Bible (a NIV translation with a cover of heavy duty camouflage duct tape) and an electronic Emoji Bible that uses emojis where possible (eg, 🤴 instead of king).

Admittedly, public transportation in the US is generally lousy. Especially outside of the major cities. Hence the car ownership. As far as gun ownership goes, the vast majority of gun crimes are committed by people who have gotten their weapons ILLEGALLY. The vast majority of LEGAL gun owners keep and use their weapons responsibly. Also, as has been noted the US is a much larger country than most European nations. Police forces are spread thin and response times unfortunately can be slow. You can't always count on the police to get to you in time to protect you, thus you need to be able to protect yourself.
@tommygilbreath3 күн бұрын
I don't know, I was with you there right up until the end. Legal gun owners in the US have been known to commit WAY more crimes than those who own them Illegally. I'll happily eat those words if you can show me at least a Dozen instances in the past Decade where Legal Gun-Owners have saved themselves due to their possession of a fire arm.

In this past year I owned 3 drivable Minivans. Not needing 3 I gave the oldest with the highest mileage to a friend, so he had at least 1 vehicle to drive. The car was worth $1,000 but I just gifted the van to him. That left me with 2 minivans, one of which I loaned to my niece to drive, and I pay for having her insured to drive it. My 3rd minivan is the newest and I use it. I have had guns before, when I was 18yrs old I bought my first 12 gauge shotgun, and a .22 cal rifle, I also owned two .22 cal pellet guns. I used them for hunting and target practice. 5 yrs ago I had a permit to carry a concealed weapon, that permit expired this past summer. The Governor of Iowa passed a law allowing Iowans to open carry guns with out a permit! My cousin owns several guns of all kinds, I have been with my cousin in public when he was open carrying a holster handgun, and I never even noticed the gun, as it was so common placed. I have owned at least 1 Bible, but I no longer actively read the Bible, I did read Revelations in the Bible. I have had 3 gym memberships over the years, but I always quit before the membership ran out. I hate exercising in front of other people, as well as just hate exercising, so I remain fat! I always wore jeans, but bought sweat pants to work out in the gyms. But never wore them for every day, until 5 yrs after I retired. Now I always wear sweatpants every day. I worry now if someone dies, I wouldn’t have any dress slacks to wear to the funeral! I only have 1 bathroom up stairs, but I really wish I had a bathroom on the first floor, too!

10:37 The United States is still a deeply religious country as a whole. I'm not sure what the current numbers are, but last I checked, about 77% of Americans practice some sort of religion, with even more believing there is some sort of "Higher Power" though not subscribing to any particular religion. It's also an extremely accessible book here. A lot of people donate them, some people will litterally stand on street corners handing them out to anybody that wants one, and *most* Churches will have some set aside for anybody that asks for one.

A British girl at university told me that the Brits aren't religious, but since then, I have met Brits that go to church regularly. My British neighbors are lawyers and they dress up the whole family and go to church on Sunday. I looked them up on the Internet their family was mentioned and pictured in a church newsletter in Britain. They are both lawyers and their kids all have red hair. The father goes to work, but the mother stays home. She usually wears dresses, but sometimes wears trousers. She has different aprons for different jobs around the house. She takes out the trash and she used to mow the lawn, when they had a smaller lawn mower, but they bought a huge, battery operated lawn mower that is too heavy for her to mow the large hill slope that is their front yard. the back yard is flat, so I guess she still mows that part. She is almost always dressed up for the day and wears an apron and gloves when she works around the house, but she is always dressed to go shopping and pick up the kids, under the apron. She is always cleaning or doing something around the house. The family really gets dressed up to go church.

We are hunters so we have bows, pewpews and traps. Sweatpants? Yes I am from Northern Indiana so, if it is warm I have some version of it. Though I don't wear a coat much, just my hoodie. Also it is holiday season, sweats are nice and stretchy. And we have 2 full bathrooms but only one floor so it is a master bath and an everybody else bath.
