1.When page fault increases exponentially then degree of multiprogramming goes to zero.......... 2.when page fault increases exponentially then cpu utilisation goes to zero and degree of multiprogramming increases. You have used both statements.i am slightly confused sir.plz help out.

You said the point where CPU utilization is zero is the point of thrashing but you are pointing the highest peak of graph(point of highest utilization). Why?

Vaibhav Sharma The graph till its max point depicts proper use of cpu upto its max.. then comes a point when the system is busy in paging thus the CPU is free and not executing any process. That point is called thrashing.
