Jim Armstrong another great video nobody makes videos like this you have an advantage over everybody it's the work you do search and rescue everybody else is just sitting around their house showing flashlights but you have a purpose in making this video and you make it very interesting really love your program I subscribe to your channel now you come on automatically and I get your notification when I'm somewhere else really appreciate it Jim you do a great job and be safe God bless you brother for the work you do 💖👍👍👍😎

Thank you. I try to be different. There are a lot of good videos that show unboxing, showing the light around the house or against some trees. I try to put all my test lights into realistic field scenarios and see how they perform as I would actually use them, and over a multi-hour time frame. I'm glad you found the information and the video review helpful.

I will be field testing the HM65R-T in about a week :)

Been doing SAR for 25 years. IMHO if a headlamp does not have the AA battery option its a no go. Odd battery types and rechargables end up screwing you eventually. Having that gas station AA battery replacement option is invaluable.

This headlamp accepts four AA, but I still would not use it. I get better overall performance from the 18650-based HM65R-T. Thank you.

It’s so easy to buy a bunch of 18650 or 21700 or whatever size batteries. They are becoming very cheap and easy to buy

great video,thanks for taking the time to show us, i have the hp25r,, would this be an upgrade??
@L5-SAR3 жыл бұрын
The HP25R is a proven headlamp that runs off commonly available 18650's. One the one hand, the HP16R offers more illumination at the high end in both flood/spot. On the other hand, it's a new proprietary battery pack whose backup is 4xAA. I would have preferred the backup option to be 2x18650. Runtime at the high end is also better, but at the expense (again) of having that proprietary battery pack. That's the tradeoff. Unless you really need more downrage illumination and for a longer time period, keep what you have. I really like 18659-based headlamps. Thanks and good luck!!

@@L5-SAR thanks for the information !, yes I love my hp25r and always will lol,,I just was thinking about the AA backup option, I have plenty of eneloop's too keep going in my situations in vt, but yes,, 2 3500mah 18650s would be better for most people.

Nice review! I’m very interested in the bigger brother of this the HP25R v2.0, have you used that one?
@L5-SAR2 жыл бұрын
Not yet. I'm currently using the HP 30R V2 which is heavy, but awesome for SAR. Two reviews on the channel. Thanks.

@@L5-SAR I’ve seen your review on that one, that thing is incredible
@L5-SAR2 жыл бұрын
@@Mr.Thermistor7228 Indeed ... if you don't mind the weight :)
@Mr.Thermistor72282 жыл бұрын
@@L5-SAR the weight is a consideration with that amount of power I’d assume. I guess the hp25r would be the middle child of the “hp” series of Fenix lights

Could you please tell me your opinion on which flashlight is the best Fenix HP30R or this one Fenix HP16R? Thanks
@L5-SAR3 жыл бұрын
I have not yet had a chance to field test the HP30R. I was a bit unimpressed with the run time on highest modes with the 16R. I'll put the 30R on the review list. Thank you.
