I spoke to an attorney who represented a sports photographer that was brutally attacked by a gang member. The sports photographer has a permanent shoulder injury that affects his life and work. The only punishment the DA wanted was mandatory anger management classes for the violent gang member. That's it! The gang member would only face jail if he didn't attend the classes. On what planet is that justice?!?!

I have a question DA Gascon, when a minor 3 weeks shy of his 18 birthday who is under the influence and deliberately swerves at a young mother and her child in a stroller and hit them with their car and then flee. Is that a violent crime? Did that person get the mandatory sentence under your version of justice? The answer to both is no, the young man never served any prison time and was let out of jail that night. I've been in public safety for 32 years. George Gascon is an embarrassment. That he used to be a cop, LAPD, and takes the predictably poorly reasoned stance on crime is disgusting. I haven't found a true-believer (liberal) he isn't convinced crime is down.....well, having been in the business since 1992, I'll tell you, the books have been cooked. De criminalization is the only thing driving any downturn. If you make it legal, crime goes down, duh. AB109 and Prop 47 were the worst things to happen to California and have led us to where we are today. Not to mention their impact on the criminal homeless population in California. This state is in trouble. Dumping electeds like Gascon is the first part of the fix. That San Franciscans had the good sense to fix their mistake, Boudin, and LA continues to suffer under Gascon confounds me.

Hochman is a centrist - 20 years a Democrat, 20 years a Republican, now an Independent running for a nonpartisan office where we want the DA to make decisions just based on the facts/law, not his personal political agenda like Gascon. For the record, though his personal political choices should not be the focus, Hochman is pro-choice and pro- LGBTQ rights his whole life, didn't vote for Trump in 2016, 2020 and not in 2014, and will be voting for Harris. Criminals don't ask for your party affiliation when they rob or shoot you nor will voters most likely focus on politics when it comes to their safety. Hochman brings 34 years criminal justice experience as a prosecutor, defense attorney and LA City Ethics Commission President while Gascon has never personally prosecuted or defended a criminal case in his entire career.
