La Jolla on the Solo Skiff 10 17 2023, searching for Yellowtail and Tuna

It's late in the Tuna season and it's been winding down just as the Tuna have been far off shore 35-65 miles. That is too far for many boats and on a Solo Skiff it translates to hours in each direction. Got to get on the water, if you're looking to hook up with a Trophy fish, other wise hit the local pub for the other hook up.

La Jolla was super slow the other day went from 7-11:30 only 1 fish super small calico

Yeah I've thought many times, how Calicos used to get hooked all the time or chew up the live Macs. Now they're not easy to catch even being targeted. Like most species the numbers are less then half of the way things we're.

@@markr9312 also the second to last time I went I’ve never seen that much Kelp Over by the hotel in my entire life it was incredible teeming with Life it made me happy seeing the kept forest bloom but my motor kept getting tangled with sea weed so I just got out of there and went to a deeper zone hopefully we are just at the right place at the right tight lines

Great, thanks for asking. I'm ready to go out soon. Just waiting for a good break in the crazy weather patterns. Today I had to work on some of my cars, looks like next week might have an opening. Can't wait to get out on the water soon.

I try to make it about enjoying the hunt, the process.I would not have any problem catching anything, but it's not about just catching. I want and only target larger fish because the fight and strength, make everything else "just bait" and because they taste great. Tight Lines!
