Thank you for doing this video. It was nice to actually hear the machines working and also see how the hot water comes out of the water spout. However it would have been nice to see a comparison of the manual paddle option or more in-depth information on profiling. Also, what other features do you get if you plumb the machines in besides hot water mixing? Lastly, did you forget to purge the steam wand on the GS3 after you foamed the milk?

Like the video but I cant get past how expansive machines like the two being reviewed have less features than a Breville Dual Boiler.

I think this is more of a performance comparison, even though the advanced benefits of each machine were not all exploited. If you have recently acquired a Breville, you are most likely a user who is still learning. If you've had a Breville for a decade, you are most likely an advanced user (who has probably upgraded) who understands how the machines in the video work and just want to know if there is a taste difference. These machines can be plumbed in directly to a water source and drain. No more filling a reservoir or dumping a drip tray. They have MUCH superior steam power. Due to their group head design, their temperatures are very stable and consistent during a shot, or multiple back to back shots and long steaming sessions. The machines have a rotary pump which produces more consistent pressure during extraction which affects shot flavor and mouth feel and is quieter than a vibratory pump. The temperature of the steam and the brew boilers can be adjusted. Different temperatures equal different pronounced flavors Finally, you can vary the pressure of the water during the shot. This allows you to vary the type of flavors you get from the different coffees. The Rocket allows you to save your profile while the GS3 doesn't I don't own these machines either, but have some understanding why they will beat a Breville for flavor and consistency. Some of these features were mentioned during this taste test, although not pointed out or even used. This video wasn't made for the person with zero knowledge. There are crew reviews and crew comparisons. They are different.

If you check the guts of the machines you will know. The La Marzocco for instance weighs around 70 lbs, built like a tank with components from their professional line will last you decades to come and could perform in a small cafe, dozens of shots an hour. It's not really an apples to apples comparison. It's like saying an Apple Watch has more features and is way cheaper than a Patek Philippe. Rocket builds home machines, La Marzocco builds professional machines and since a few years also high end home machines, and Breville has a more diverse line of products. What I can say is that the la Marzocco for instance will hold its value tremendously (check their prices used). The Breville is probably a good machine but also has its use, same as the Rocket and GS3. Depends on what your priorities and preferences (and budget) are of course.

My Breville broke after barely a year- the pump, the gasket for the steam wand, everything died at the same time and there was no way to get it serviced in Canada. It was starting to burn, not kidding, C$1500 down the drain. Yes it was beautiful and user-friendly but I'm much more confident that my Rocket will last many more years.

@@JohnManzo Exactly, you get what you pay for. I mean all that technology crammed in for a low price means they've got to cut some corners somewhere. I've got the Linea Mini and since I got the machine it works like a charm and fully confident it'll still be serviceable in the future.
