The notion you would actually be able to outpace an A53 in a real world scenario, let alone to a degree that would actually result in the loss of customers is just ridiculous. I've witnessed many attempts to justify the existence of the Linea Mini, but this really is at the top of the list. Even if you had a suuuper high demand setting that would be so massive that an A53 was not up to the task, no Linea Mini in the world would save you. In fact, you'd be far better off to buy two A53s and you'd still have 1600 bucks left for supplies. You could buy a whole frkn cart for that kind of money. There really isn't any commercial setting in which a Linea Mini would be a good investment. Also, never bring a shirt with checker pattern to a video shoot ;)
@s968224 жыл бұрын
I have owned the Lucca equivalent (La Spaziale S1 Vivaldi) for many years. Shot quality is superb and you'd be hard pressed to tell any difference between it and a Linea Mini, I couldn't. The La Spaziale is used in low-medium volume commercial settings though probably not in the USA due to NSF requirements. Some believe LM due to Starbucks fame is overpriced or perhaps prior to that fame was too pricy. IMO save your money for a good grinder and still come out ahead of the pricy Linea Mini. 53mm basket is not an issue whatsoever. I have owned 58mm machines.
@keesketsers58663 жыл бұрын
I live in europe and have NEVER seen a La Spaziale in commercial use....ever. Most dealers stopped selling La Spaziale because of reliability problems. They also manufactured the Bosch espresso machines (almost the same as an s1) and they are considered total crap overhere. I tried to buy an S1 dream years ago and couldn't find a dealer. La Marzocco was legendary even before starbucks even existed. LM became famous because of the stainless dual boiler setup, other brands used copper HX setups. Agreed that a good grinder is important and filter size is irrelevant. I have owned many machines (commercial Nuova Simonelli and Faema, and home use Profitec, VBM and Rocket) and there is a huge difference between home and commercial machines.

@eltonnoway78644 жыл бұрын
I also find myself disappointed with the 53mm basket, however ... per La Spaziale (the original fabricators of the Lucca A53) the concept and design behind using a 53mm basket is it's "deeper" than a 58mm basket so it helps to eliminate channeling in the puck that can sometimes plague 58mm extractions. The downside is the majority of aftermarket accessories (levelers, automatic tampers, Nanotech shower heads, filter baskets etc etc are 58mm
@rupunzel62994 жыл бұрын
@@eltonnoway7864 Owned a La Spaziale II for almost 5 years now. Don't see much advantage to the 58mm porta filter. Only time the 58mm porta filter makes a difference is shots with over 17-18 grams of ground coffee, typical shot is 15 grams for a double. For a single shot of 7.5 grams, the 53mm porta filter has an advantage over the 58mm porta filter.

@Smirnoff445 жыл бұрын
Why is the mini so much more expensive than other high end prosumer machines ie ecm synchronika? Thanks
@clivecoffee5 жыл бұрын
That's a great question. A big part of it is the increased size and complexity of some of the machine's parts. You're getting a huge 3.5L steam boiler vs the Synch's 2L. The brew boiler is filled by a unique heat exchanger design that they made in house. Further, many of La Marzoccos parts are built to a high standard and to their own spec. The other piece is the reputation of the La Marzocco name, which has a value of its own. While you're certainly getting that additional bang for your buck, there are many people that'll be served just as well by a LUCCA A53 or ECM Syncrhonika. It all comes down to your needs and preferences. - Charles

As a photographer this strikes me as comparing a Canon to a Leica (or Mercedes to Toyota. BTW, I am very happy with my Toyota but I also love Leica cameras) I think it's clever marketing to not mention the price. That way the viewer is seeing these as equals. But IMO it's really apples and oranges. Clearly the Mini is not at the optimum point on a cost-benefit curve and it's not meant to be. If you're looking for the biggest bang for the buck then don't even consider a La Marzocco. But if you're the kind of person that wants the very best (quality, reputation, history/lineage, etc.) and price is not a concern then perhaps consider La Marzocco. Once you own a La Marzocco there is little anyone can say disparagingly other than the price. And as someone pointed out here, there is a difference between a lot of money up front and value over time. I bought a Profitec P700 from Clive and am very happy with it. It doesn't mean I wouldn't love to own a Linea Mini.

Hi, Is the pre-infusion on the a53 simply an on or off options? How long does it run for? I've seen some mentions of "pre-brew" on the Linea, can you tell me a little more about it? Additionally, many people are doing pressure profiling mods to their Linea Mini's. Is this a service you offer?
@baristakev57093 жыл бұрын
the linea has a 1 seconds pre infuse and you can't change it, the LUCCA has programmable pre infusion
@clivecoffee3 жыл бұрын
Hi Carlton, Either machine has the ability to change the length of the pre-infusion. With the Direct Plumb A53, the user can change the length from the front control panel once in programming mode. Pre-infusion is a newer feature on the Linea Mini and is controlled by the La Marzocco Home App. They both use a solenoid to allow water to flow through the group head in conjunction with line pressure from the machine. As far as modifying the Linea, that's not a service that we currently offer. Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any other questions. -Amanda
