When I saw the avocados there, I was so shocked. Not due to the sheer size but the price. Only 2 Bs. each. So damn creamy and fresh!

Hi Kara and Nate, I lived in La Paz for a couple of years back in the mid-70's and liked it so much I returned for a visit in 2009. I fondly remember Carnival, and thank god they did not have the foam when I was there (just water balloons). Glad you like it too. Ran across your channel during your Everest Base Camp trek (I'm going in the Fall). Love your energy and enthusiasm. Thanks for all the hard work you guys put into these videos.

It's such a cool city! We want to go back as well. We heard that water guns were the norm but this year they are having a bit of a problem with drought so they weren't allowed to waste water! Good luck on your trek! You'll love it!

Miss UnPerfection Its usually in between February and March :) but has no official date and the celebrations vary from place to place. This year the main and more touristic celebrations (the Entrada in Oruro) start around Feb 10 but the Corsonde Corso in Cochabamba isnt until the next weekend. There are also activities in the countryside that carry out for the entire month so basicly any time around this month is a great time to come :)

In Bolivian culture -Aymara and Quechua- there is no devil per se as in the catholic church those beliefs were brought by the catholic church. In fact we Bolivian s believe in different goods sun, earth mother or pacha mama among others, and giving an offerings is to stabilsh reciprocity not only take - but give it back. I.e. llamas were one of few sources of food in the Highlands, they were also very important as means of transportation. To show gratitude on the past people - some still practice- will offer this to the earth mother. Indegenous people had to asimilate but managed to keep their beliefs-while sincretizaing with a new culture.I.e. virgen has an adorn behind her head with a shape of the sun good because that was their good, not the virgen. They never loose their culture but the merge it in a sneaky way that now a days catholic church accepts many traditions and perform ceremonies together that one would think are pagan rituals.
