Let's do some clarity. This video is the X Factor 2017 audition (Damiano 18 Ethan and Victoria 17, Thomas16 ) of their unpublished work which is in the first EP (Chosen). They started at the end of 2015 (D 16, E+V 15 T 14) in small clubs and on the street until a scout (in 2017) heard them on the street and took them to audition, which they passed and came in second place. Upon leaving Xfactor they signed a contract with Sony and their first album Il Ballo della Vita (2018) was released.

This was TV, tha judges were acting like everyone else. The first judge you stopped on is Manuel Agnelli, actually a former italian rockstar, band leader of the Afterhours (you can check out some of their songs, they were good back in the days, I saw them live a couple of times), and during the competition was their mentor (and a friend). After their success post x-factor, they invited him to San Remo for a duet.

This is the selection for X Factor Italy. They were 16/18 years old.

They started on the streets, well more accurately, they started playing together while in school, signed up for a competition for highschool kids, chose the name Måneskin for it, won it. But then ran into trouble as they couldn't really find anywhere that would let them play. At best they'd end up playing in restaurants, if they could bring family and friends to eat there. But it left them stuck in place, so they started playing on the streets to get an audience and make some money. Eventually they chose to audition in X-factor where they ended up in second place, got in touch with a manager and got to record their first EP, after that. Their hit song Beggin was on that EP.

"Chosen" remains my favourite Måneskin's track (and its official video is my favourite Måneskin's videoclip). The song sounds very mature for a teenagers' band and its funky vibes are really catchy.

This is their audition for X Factor. Fun fact, the judge with the tatoos, Fedez, was the one they had to beat at Sanremo to win (and consequentially get to represent Italy at Eurovision since the winner of Sanremo is the one that goes to Eurovision), he arrived second after them -but he was also routing for them during the entire competition and asking his own fans as well to vote for them because he love them and he didn't really want to go to Eurovision lol

2017 auditions for Xfactor, Damiano was already an incredible frontman, the other guys were immature instead. During the broadcast it was said that the others weren't yet up to Damiano. I'm glad that with hard work, the other three have also become very good.

They started busking on the streets in Rome in 2016 and got noticed by someone from Sony Italy who made them apply for X Factor Italia 2017. This was their casting performance. Damiano was going to be 18 and Thomas was 16. They brought their song "Chosen". The long haired judge said that he had doubts about them because Ethan the drummer was not up to it.

The ending -zione (pronounced like (i)ts -yo -nay) in Italian corrisponds to the -tion ending in English, and in most cases the rest of the word doesn't change or changes just a little. So "audizone" becomes "audition", azione = action, nazione = nation. Using these types of tricks you can instantly expand your Italian by a few hundred words, at the risk of occasionally inventing a new word in Italian... :-)

They started playing together when they were very young and to have the money to buy the instruments they played in the streets of Rome, they worked hard to improve their music more and more and take care of their image, they have shown that they know how to play on any type of international stage and are able to mix different styles in the same song to satisfy all tastes and all age groups... The audition of course went well even if watching this now you can see how the band is improved both playing and Damiano singing. Stage presence however was already there thans to their busking experience and their personalities. Last but not least, the guy speaking at the end is Alessandro Cattelan, Italian TV host who co-hosted Eurovision in Turin.
