“La Saracena” is a holiday house designed in 1955 by the architect Luigi Moretti and built along the sea-cost of Santa Marinella (Rome, Italy). It is an example of “Mediterranean” Modernism. Thanks to its structure on the extrados, the roof looks suspended over the walls of the long gallery and the continuous windows enhance the lightness of the structure. The gallery itself is ideally prolonged by a suspended timber structure that acts like a pergola in front of the sea. Moretti is also considered one of the fathers of parametric design.
