It's ridiculous. California is the only state with this problem, this bad. Here in Missouri and almost every other state, we have a Conservation department that takes care of the national and state forests. Controlled burns, firebreaks (cleared pathways or logging roads throughout the forests that are maintained and clear for the public to use and in emergencies, used as stopgaps during wildfires), and water resource management. California has everything they need for all of that in spades, but they squander and block all of it. We have family that lived out there for a couple generations that moved back here after being burned out 2 years ago. It's just nuts. They really ought to be held accountable for negligence or recklessness or something. There's just no excuse for it.

I remember not doing any of my homework, etc, cause I thought what's the point if the world is basically ending in 12 years. Horrible thing to tell a bunch of kids. I've noticed since then that they use the "12 year" number a lot for some reason. I grew up in SoCal and couldn't wait to leave. They don't want "border walls," but every other aspect of their life is behind a wall. No joke, there is a walled city with walled neighborhoods and every yard has 8ft cinder block walls. Their golf courses, gyms and polo grounds have walls and guards and you don't even know what they are by driving by. in most places people want to share deals they got or nice restaurants. They specifically tell you about things they got into that you can't.
@ricky467315 күн бұрын
You don't get it... Let me explain. They can afford to protect themselves but the average person cannot. They don't care if you get hurt by some one across the border, they have their own borders. If they did not have those walls, they would not believe the stuff they do. Once you become a have, you are clueless about things that affect the have nots.

In Australia we conduct hazard reduction burns at the urban interface of bushlands in high risk areas. This leaves the trees mostly undamaged but it burns away a lot the ground fuel which is what really gets a wild fire going. Because of this when wild fires do encroach onto urban areas such as what is happening now in LA the fire can be more manageable and asset protection easier so we dont lose as many structures. Having said that, I've heard humidity is down around 2% and winds are up to 90 mph there and if that is accurate there is basically nothing that can stop a wild fire under those conditions. It will burn until it runs out of fuel or the weather changes.

LA City is huge! Drive from San Pedro to Sylmar, or from Woodland Hills to Boyle Heights. Even with light traffic, that's a 1hr+ drive. When they say "New York is the biggest City in the nation", they mean purely in terms of population. LA City is much bigger than New York City, geographically speaking. Now yes, LA County is absolutely GIGANTIC, it's bigger than many small countries, such as Lebanon. It'll take you a few hours to get from San Pedro to Lancaster, or from Long Beach to where Malibu ends at the Ventura County Line. Born and raised in LA, I love it, and not about to permanently lose it to the WOKE psychos. The BLOWBACK from this disastrous local & CA governmemt mismanagement, could be enough to return CA Republicans to power for the first time in 30yrs. Stay tuned, bitches.

@ocarinaplaya yes & no. Many of the "cities" are not cities. They are communities within the City of Los Angeles (e.g., San Pedro, Pacific Palisades, Hollywood, North Hollywood, Sylmar, Park La Brea, Miracle Mile, Larchmont, Silver Lake, Echo Park, Downtown LA, Boyle Heights, etc etc. etc). People from outside California may find it hard to imagine just how huge everything is over here. LA is the biggest urban metropolis in the world, yet the majority of LA County (bigger than many small countries) is MOSTLY natural Mountains, hills, coastal cliffs, desert, wetlands, intertidal/wild big surf beaches. It's mostly nature out here.

Back in the wild days of 2009 I was in a statistical methodology course where the entire class was geared towards a single project/presentation based on research and data analysis. I was curious what correlated with voting patterns, which is what I decided to do the project on. Unfortunately the prof was a bit of a jackwagon so I couldn't look at that other than as a secondary item. Instead I had to focus on "voter turnout" to avoid giving offense and look at how people actually voted secondarily. Then I had to do all the stats in SPSS and show how I did my work to support my conclusions properly for what amounts to proper poli-sci methodology, write up a 30-40 page report and present it to the entire department. I didn't realize at the time that I was basically doing the groundwork for "microtargeting" of a population, which the Obama folks were already doing. Anyway... What I found based on months of research and data analysis boils down to this, in 2009: The number one thing that influenced people to vote in general was ownership of something. It could be basically anything but it's something to call their own. This includes small items or even pets but the key is they earned the money and paid for the thing. As you move more towards the Conservative side of things the items get larger in price tag and/or time required to purchase them. The number one predictor of voting Conservative was free and clear ownership of real estate over time. That is, not inherited property that the person just liquidates and takes the equity from or only holds on to for a little bit. The correlation, if memory serves, with owning real estate for 10 years and voting GOP was ~0.58, which is pretty high, really. The only thing I found that didn't fit this pattern was ownership of a gun. It's a fairly small ticket item yet it correlated pretty highly with being less "liberal" in the American sense of the term. Guns, based on my data, correlated not only with Conservatism but a "DIY attitude" (something else I studied in that dataset). In other words, there are two paths to conservatism based on my analysis: A ownership ladder which people can move up or the fast route which as an understanding that you're kinda on your own. As of 2009, actual voting patterns and having kids was in favor of Conservatism but to such a small degree that it wasn't statistically significant. At least at that point in time, liberals had offspring at nearly the same rate (though probably not in the same numbers). Bottom line: A renting society is a Leftist society. An owning society is a Conservative society.
