I wish when she spoke about the various blood tests they appeared on the screen in print.

True that the transcript provides the info but the best videos are edited to show key info. in summarized format. In this case the key names of tests can be superimposed on the video or in a list in the transcript/comments. The info she’s provided is very good; shame that it’s not shared efficiently.

Great video, a bit overwhelming the first time, but the PDF also made this easier to follow. I watched the second time with the PDF in front of me, and your explanations helped me to understand why particular tests are useful, and for what. In my case, I know rheumatoid arthritis and steroid use have contributed to my osteoperosis. I only recently found out that being on Prolia for many years (in my case 7 years so far) makes it difficult (dangrous) to go off the drug. I'll do more research, but I want my bones to be fracture free for many more years, so hopefully I can figure out how to make that happen.

Sorry but I don’t see the PDF doc. She mentioned a link but I don’t see it.

how nice it would be to have a list in print so we can ask our doctor for these and we can look at these ourselves as some doctors don't have the time to go over these with patients

Very informative. Thank you for this information, which I'm not sure my health care providers understand well enough to explain. Not that they could take the time, lol

Many many thanks for the bone testing handout, I noticed you didn't comment on alkaline phosphatase which is one of the ones included by most doctors.

Where is the hand out/ print out of the tests ??? HELP. Really would like to have that info…
Based on the information that you conveyed in this video, it would seem that bone marker turnover testing would be medically necessary for someone diagnosed with age-related osteoporosis. But my health insurance company disagrees, considering bone marker turnover tests to be unproven. They denied a claim for a CTX test on this ground. Please explain why bone marker turnover tests are "unproven."

I had high blood sugar levels, I brought it up with my pcp, they kept telling me there was nothing to worry about...20 years I gave them the heads up, now after a broken femur and hip, I have osteoporosis, I have never had my urine checked in 20 years... I asked my pcp for an A1C tests, he said he didnt know enough about the test to order one...the doctors need to be struck off for ignoring a patient when they give them the heads up every visit...why bother asking if youre at menopause if the conversation stops there

Thank you for this video! I am 55 year old male who has Beta thalassemia trait. I do not have the. disease, but have the trait. Recently, I have done a DNA test and am told that I am dispositioned to osteoporosis. My all other blood test you mentioned are in normal rage, but my hemoglobin is low white blood cells are usually slightly high, blood sugar levels are still in normal rage and kidney function test is good. I am still worried about developing a bone disease. Is there anything I can do?

You can do DEXA scan, it takes 5 min. And CTX blood test. And add food with CA to your diet ( there is an almond milk at Costco - 1 cup has 600! gr of CA)
@HopefulEmpath6 ай бұрын
@@lora7715 Do you know if I can order a CTX blood test without a doctor? I went to Quest lab site but it wasn’t listed as an option to self pay.
