One of my holy grail products is the Sebium Serum actually. I love to dabble into all the products so I currently use the exfoliating mask for the ordinary and tried a bunch of other chemical exfoliants but if I had to come back to one single exfoliant to use until the end of my days it would be the Sebium serum. It's even hydrating enough that I could use it as the only product after cleansing and still be reasonably fine the morning after.

Great video! Now i understand why Bioderma worked best for me, compared to Avene and La Roche Posay. I have a query though: i got the Bioderma matt and used it for about 1-2 weeks, then started noticing separation of the ingredients. At first it was only some clear liquid before the cream, but if shaken it was fine. Then i traveled for a few days (had the Bioderma matt and Bioderma global with me, in the original packaging) and the matt one just separated entirely (it looks like patches of white solid in clear liquid) Shaking it doesn't do anything anymore, and it feels watery in the tube. The creams were new, opened just 2 weeks prior, traveled with both of them in the same conditions (backpack in trunk, AC on) and only one separated. The first time i noticed the separation i still used the cream and it seemed fine, but i was afraid to use it after that. The smell did not change, so is it still safe to use? I tried asking a lady from the pharmacy the same question and when she heard i was travelling she immediately blamed it on the heat, but the cream already started separating 1-2 days before the trip, and the other one was never affected and i'm still using it. Sorry for the long post, but i really hope somebody can tell me if i should throw away the cream or if i can still use it.

All of them contain fragrance. Sensitive sure.
@LabMuffinBeautyScience5 жыл бұрын
Not all fragrances have the same sensitivity risks, and sometimes they're overall beneficial if they encourage people to keep using them. Bioderma do extensive testing on their finished products and only have one reported side effect per million products sold, so in practice the fragrances they use aren't very sensitising in the finished formulas. (Yes, I clearly asked them about this issue! 😂)
@marinan96865 жыл бұрын
Lab Muffin Beauty Science Well, that’s what THEY said. I know Dr. Dray likes the brand, although she doesn’t recommend it because their products contain fragrance.
@LabMuffinBeautyScience5 жыл бұрын
@@marinan9686 Their explanation makes more sense to me than a blanket statement about all fragrance being bad for everyone (a la Paula) - the dose makes the poison, "fragrance" is not one substance and different chemicals will have different effects, the formulation can make a big difference when it comes to penetration, etc. Bioderma does work closely with dermatologists in product development and research, and have a lot of scientists on their staff as well. IMO the safest thing to do is to test the finished product on your own skin.
@heredianna24965 жыл бұрын
@@LabMuffinBeautyScience Hi you talked about many ingredients but ignored perfume although the brand targets sensitive skin?! You say the dose makes a difference but how long it stays on your skin also makes a difference. The number of products you have to apply daily increases the dose. The repetition of application as well and these are daily products. I am allergic to fragrance so I know all about that. And of course that's was their response: our perfume is different... Come on! What else a brand would say? I am French I love Bioderma ( the micellar water in the pink bottle for the most sensitive skin), I have been using it for years but I can only use the few fragrance free products they have otherwise guess what? I tried, I broke out same for my mum which is also allergic to fragrance. Plus pretty much 97% of their products have perfume, and the 3% which do not are classified for the most sensitive skin. Did you ask them why? Obviously their "innovative" perfume for sensitive skin is not that perfect?!... Unfortunately I can see here the difference between a regular review and a sponsor review video. Many people love this brand so I am not saying it is bad but if you have to call it a review please talk about all important aspects before a viewer have to mention it or just call it an ad.
@LabMuffinBeautyScience5 жыл бұрын
@@heredianna2496 Sure, that's what they would say, but it does make logical sense to me as I explained above. Substances get taken away from your skin and metabolised, so daily application doesn't generally increase the dose (e.g. taking a Nurofen tablet won't do anything for a headache even 6 hours later, let alone a day later). I don't generally mention allergens in product reviews, since I'd expect that people with allergies would look out for them, and it would unnecessarily demonise ingredients that I don't think are harmful unless you're allergic or they're in a high concentration e.g. parabens, organic sunscreens, fragrance, lanolin, oatmeal, coconut... Also, the word "ad" is in the title.

Is this your first sponsorship? Congratulations! I'm a bit cheap for Bioderma, but I've been paying attention for a bit and have come to the conclusion that if I do feel splurge-y Bioderma would be my go-to brand (Dr. Dray likes them too). I'd love a deep dive on Biore. Their charcoal micellar water removes my makeup instantly.

I would love an anti aging routine for hands ✋️😃 Spf is an obvouis, but what about other products/ingredients - since you wash your hands several times a day, do you wash away the benefits and waste money? And personally I am also worried about using ingredients that will sensitise the skin for sun exposure, thus risking doing more harm than good, since multiple hand washes means it is challenging to ensure you have spf on at all times 😟 If you are spending the day outside during summer it is easier to plan and be prepared, but you are exposed to UV all day year round 😩😩
@Ebichuchu5 жыл бұрын
Many people who are dedicated to sun protection just take their SPF with them and reapply throughout the day every couple hours. It’s technically what you should be doing anyway 🤷🏼♀️
@susanneflora31335 жыл бұрын
Aubri I do the same. When I’m outside reapplication is usually not a problem, at least not with my current lifestyle. For me personally it’s more challinging during busy days at work. It’s indoors, but with huge windows everywhere, so I always wear sunscreen even though there’s no direct sunlight. For people who rarely need the restroom, reapplication is probably no fuss, but I am not one of those 😂 I’m also curious as to whether certain ingredients is a waste to use on hands during the day, due to frequent hand washing.

@ocandro5 жыл бұрын
@@LabMuffinBeautyScience researching surfactants is my obsession, because I have horrible scalp and hair problems, could you please make a video about different types of surfactants, how strong/gentle they are, what they remove (as in quaterniums, silicones, mineral oil etc - it would surely be interesting, especially for natural/curly hair community), how lather affects cleansing and how overall formula (addition of humectants, emollients, pH) changes everything, shortly - how much can we tell just from inci list. I know from my own experience that I used shampoo with Sodium C14 (...) Sulffonate much gentler than one with Decyl Glucoside, which surprised me at the time. Hi, Michelle! :) i'm a doctoral student in microbiology and there is one thing that I have been wondering for quite some time now. Skin care and hair care products are relatively new things, if we look at the human history. Our skin and its microbiome have evolved to exist and coexist without these products. No doubt, use of some of them is beneficial for our health, for example, washing hands with soap helps to reduce pathogen transmission. But I'm often wondering, if our hygiene practices (e.g., daily hot, soapy showers) and different products that we apply to our skin are actually necessary or even good for our skin health from the perspective of skin-microbiome interactions. We could combine our science superpowers to explore this topic together and hopefully find some answers :) if you are interested, check your mail box - I sent you an e-mail

Almost all of their products contain fragrance, even the one that is marketed for sensitive skin. Why would any companies put fragrance in their products, it serves no purpose for skin, it's all for the smell.
@LabMuffinBeautyScience4 жыл бұрын
Having a pleasant sensory experience means people are more likely to keep using the product. I don't understand all the hate for fragrance - the prevalence of fragrance allergy is only about 5% in the general population, and not even most sensitive-skinned people are sensitive to it (prevalence is somewhere around 20% in dermatology patient populations). I think being anti-fragrance was just marketed strongly as a "scientific" stance early on and it's persisted, same as being anti-alcohol...
