@catherinemartin6258 Ahh, an insult! Don't challenge the message, just insult the messager. You must be a Labour supporter? I've seen 3 Labour governments, each time they've left the country poorer, including those who are the most at need in society being poorer. This one is already no different with the 2024 budget tax rises seen as hitting the poorest the hardest by every independent financial organisation. Another couple of years like this and all the youngsters not sucking on the taxpayers teat will be voting Tory next time. Again.

Next... the Council Tax. With so many local authorities near bankruptcy and those that are issue a section 114 notice and are allowed to increase the tax by 10%, it should not be a surprise if Labour raises the cap to 8% for Council Tax and a further 2% for adult social care. The taxpayer, though, is not a bottomless pit. We are being used to sort out the mess of UK politics over a considerable period. Lots of us did not receive Covid help or a subsidy in the form of right-to-buy council housing, yet we are being squeezed left, right and centre.

Overseas students are a waste. Any knowledge gained from teaching time goes out of the country. What should the point of our education system even be? Is any valuable research being capitalised upon by British companies? If we are only teaching established practice why can that not be done elsewhere?

Starmer needs to subsidize tertiary education to the tune of 50% to alleviate the exclusion of some of the best brains! Low interest free government loans should be available to plug the gap!
