This personally for me has been the best tutorial yet. I like to shorten my beard in the run up to Xmas as a reset and have fancied something like this , and now I have something like this . Took the beard a little shorter to accentuate the handlebar and I’m well impressed with the results. I usually have a rounder bottom to my beard but the sharper line feels very fresh .

This is the video I've been waiting for. My barber is very good at what he does and always makes my beard look incredible. He just can't get his head around the fact that I want a handlebar moustache, and he always cuts it short. Now, it looks good, but its not what I want, so I've been trying to get better at doing it myself. Thanks Matty.

Hey Matty! Stellar content as always! I have a full beard and I always use your techniques to maintain it. Question that I hope you answer in the next tutorial: I have a wide cheekbone squared shape and I like my beard to stay within the boundaries of the face, aka vertical along the sides, without fading or tapering or taking much out. Plus I like to keep the shelf parallel to my jaw and have the overall shape to be something like a ducktailm (soft point or round towards the bottom). Could you show us a tutorial on how to do that? Thanks! ALso for the white shirt- dish soap + baking soda + lemon juice. Brush with a toothbrush, wash it off and you're sorted.

Yo, Matty, important question. I'm looking to let my beard grow out longer, almost to your beard length. How often, roughly, would you say that a man with a long beard should get a beard trim whether he does it himself or goes to his barber? Especially if I want to wear my beard in a specific shape.
@artmart86 Жыл бұрын
@Mattyconrad I have an idea for the trimmer, what about a turning head so when you have to outline the sideburns you dont need to twist your hand to position the trimmer. It will make it easy to maneuver if your hand is in "natural" position and going downwards will be easier.

Hey! Is it possible to “grow out” a brogue, or does it need to start with a full bushy beard? If growing out from a beardstache, do you have any recommendations for how to handle that awkward in-between stage, particularly the hairs just above the lip (trimmed at the lip line for a beardstache, but left long and combed to the sides for a brogue)? Thanks!

Do you still have the same beer and coffee issues once the mustache is properly styled? I've been trying a wax (fairly hard) without a hairdryer and I find it doesn't hold well enough. Coffee is possible, but no milk foam... maybe I need to give the hairdryer a chance.

Hi there! I watched your channel a lot during covid lockdowns as I found them quite relaxing and I've come back and have been bingewatching them these past few days. I'm in the process of growing (a rather patchy) beard myself and just leaving it grow has covered most of my cheeks which is great to see though there is absolutely no hair around my mouth. Anyway, my main issue is that I find it very hard to shape my baseline. The problem is that the hair on the right grows straight down and outwards whereas the hair on the left grows sideways and towards the mouth so I struggle to firstly keep it level and then give it the kind of triangular shape I'm looking for. Any tips on how to fix that? Thanks and keep up the good work!

At 62, my beard is 50-60% white hair, which as you know can be wiry and do some crazy stuff. I would love to see a video one day showing how having so much white hair can be dealt with through styling. For instance, I have a mix of hair that will curl and some that is straight. The white hairs have the most extreme difference, while my "youthful" hair is more manageable. Obviously, you aren't old enough to do on yourself, so I'm hoping you find a few good (older) men to model cuts.
