My husband has been rocking a beard for a couple years but never had a clue how to trim/maintain it (no one ever showed him how). Then I came across your videos a few months ago on how to do beard trims/maintenance at home to share with him, and they have been a game changer! I will say, I've been the one studying up and learning these skills to replicate on him, and I have improved so much because of your videos and his beard is the best it's ever been. THANK YOU for sharing your knowledge!!!

For some time, I've been wearing a long beard, but I've always struggled with trimming and styling it effectively. Your videos have been a revelation-they're incredibly helpful and easy to follow for beard enthusiasts like me. They've sparked my interest in self-trimming and enhancing my beard. I'm looking forward to seeing more detailed videos on trimming long beards and mustaches on your channel. I'm also excited about your upcoming tutorials on shaping a rounded beard and chemical straightening (relaxing). Keep up the fantastic work!

Growing my first beard in 60 years. It's at the 2-month stage. I'm going to let it grow out for another 2 months, but I'm now starting to think about what style I want, and how to achieve it. To help me out on my first trim, I'm upvoting the request for full-length videos on all those shapes. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

Just a quick note to say thanks. Had a disastrous beard trim recently, he undercut it and made it look transparent and weak at the front as well as lopsided, I can't find a decent barber round here to fix things and the clippers I had were awful. So armed with new Gamma+ clippers and trimmers set and your videos, I plucked up the courage to have a go myself. Your videos took the mystery out of things, it's not a dark art after all and I now have a 'soft' square beard and a trimmed and shaped handlebar 'tache. You have made an old man (and his missus) very happy, thanks!

Love these tips! Your channel and channels like it have REALLY helped me up my beard game. In 5 or so years, I've gone from having little growth ability to a beard that only takes a couple months to be strong. I've only sat in one barber's chair and honestly, I probably spent a hour fixing it after leaving, so I guess I prefer to trim/style my own beard. Being a balding guy, a good beard is a huge compliment to the overall aesthetic. Thanks again, Matty!

Second, I admire your beard and how well these 3 styles fit perfectly on you. You are so blessed for having a versatile beard like yours. Finally, I really love how you encourage us to improve our skills on shaping our own beards with a magic ingredient known as PATIENCE. Man I just started watching your videos in a lazy attempt to grow my beard and I got to say these videos gave a more confidence to actually grow it and educate myself on how to take care of them. I’m such a fan and hopefully I can keep learning from your videos. The triangular shape fits me the best but I have sometimes taken a little too much from the bottom and sides trying to achieve the right look. Slowly getting better tho. 👍🏻

Solid video as always, Matty. Point to be noted- it's worth mentioning the "hybrid shapes", like "square and round" (parallel sides, slightly rounded bottom) and "squared ducktail" (flat bottom but parallel to your jaw; not pointed). Reason I say this is because these have become more popular over the years than these classic shapes. They're also more natural than the above 3, in my humble opinion. Regardless, as someone who styles his beard like a ducktail in the morning and it becomes a round shelf with parallel sides as the day progresses, I'm very pleased with this video and this guide. Thank you!

Matty, thanks for the great tips! Could you consider a tutorial on a more layered & natural look. Although, it can definitely be more difficult to master. That is, to keep trimmed but beard walls more layered and natural rather than straight, flat, and completely uniform. For example, Leto Atreides Dune beard look. Maybe get someone with a large beard and wittle it down and layer it to look Oscar Isaac Dune like? Haven’t found anyone that shows this, but, you’re the one man that can pull that off on KZbin!! Let’s do this Matty!

I have an hard time using anything like guards, because one side needs to be shortened, but if that happens to the sideways side, it will be much flatter and a visible difference.

A question I always wanted to ask (I really really hope I get an answer): I wash my face with a face wash and usually I wash my beard with the same wash (it’s a specific face wash not a soap)… now I wash my face twice daily for my facial routine and I use shampoo on my hair twice a week… for my beard I have a specified shampoo that I use twice a week, but I don’t have a specific wash for the beard… is the face wash good for my beard or should I have a specific wash for the beard like the shampoo???
@mattyconradgrooming18 күн бұрын
Good question. I usually recommend a specific beard wash because a lot of them contain different types of proteins or oils that are gonna be more nourishing to the hair. However, you’re not doing any harm by using a face wash. These is usually contain care ingredients that will keep the skin healthy. Just keep an eye out if you notice that it’s drying out the hair or if it’s causing your beard to itch. That’s usually a sign that the skin underneath the beard is not getting the care it needs
