i find interesting that the pigs at the dining room were eating flowers. usually flowers are used as a metaphor for innocence, especially daisies. at one point, lacey compares "him" (supposedly her uncle) to a pig. she says he "squealed like a pig. just like a pig". i think the pig dining scene is a metaphor to how her uncle "consumed" lacey's innocence. kinda like how cannibalism is used as a metaphor for consumption in media, the uncle is stealing lacey of her girlhood and consuming it for his own pleassure. thats so fucked up and raw. but also genius writing. damn

I think the opening game represents the uncaring or artificial nature a lot of people have when “buying” a pet. It’s not a living thing, it’s a toy, a decoration, a thing. That’s what Puddles was to Lacey’s Uncle, and they weren’t perfect, so he got rid of it. Puddles was more important to Lacey than a pet, it was a friend. Her only friend. That’s why she wanted her dream cat to have ice cream with her. Cats don’t eat ice cream, but people do, and she wanted someone, or something, to be there to share happiness with. I really hope Lacey, or whoever is behind her wires, gets or found that happiness, as well as something, or something, to share it with.

LOVE the part where Lacey says “here’s the REAL girl games.” i am almost certain Lacey is a CSA survivor based on all the signs she has presented in this series, and unfortunately it is extremely common. even with that being said, there is often still so much shame around talking about it, often instilled into the victims by their abusers. girls grow up playing these dress up and cooking games , read fairy tale stories, and watch fantasy movies. then when they encounter something as horrible and traumatic as abuse, everything feels like a lie. then on top of all of it, they’re often discouraged from talking about it. and additionally, Lacey is probably sick of pretending like she’s “fine,” and that it’s all quite literally fun and games.
@theotherther1 Жыл бұрын
Exactly. CSA victims' abusers often try to portray it as a loving or consensual thing when children are not capable of giving consent. They use the same logic when sexually abusing animals as well; dogs and other animals subject to this abuse usually need to be put down, because they're traumatized and left incapable of trusting humans. It's a living nightmare for the abused, so that's why pedophiles and zoophiles (they're usually comorbid) choose victims who are unable to speak about it or won't be believed. On the flip side, there are pets trained to provide therapy to traumatized children, but those pets are not themselves abuse victims. Lacey losing her dog robs her of this opportunity and the only friend she's ever had.

At 10:50, Lacey says to herself that she’s Lacey, as if re-confirming her existence. But looking back at some of the theories in the comments, I believe this is just Lacey wanting to be something else besides a victim of abuse. She can’t let go of all her past trauma, something so ingrained within her that she simply can’t forget. She wants to be so much more, be that image she seeks to be, be that person she seeks to be. She wants to BE Lacey. She wants to go shopping and express herself, she wants to own a diner, she wants to be a pet store owner. She has dreams and ambitions, but those desires are overclouded by her past.

My guess is the creator made the first game to mess with us. But as the series progressed, the game wanted to give a more human side to Lacey. I think her character is trying to move on from what happened in the past. But the responsibilities of the adult world kind of pull those memories back. That's why in Lacey's Diner, it plays out like normal if you do everything right. But if time runs out, the mood changes.
@JessaProjects Жыл бұрын
detail that stood out to me: When the body (Lacey's Uncle from what I've seen?) starts speaking, it's an excerpt from Beneath The Skin, a 1981 short film made by Cecelia Condit (who's also the creator of Possibly in Michigan) Beneath The Skin is actually a retelling of an event that happened to her, where she dated this man who killed an ex (iirc?) of his, and he ended up hiding her body in a trunk under the bed him and Cecelia slept in. Cecelia wasn't aware that the body was even there, because she was on a medication that affected her sense of smell. So the audio coming from the body under Lacey's bed is from a true story about a body under a bed... 😳 EDIT: Something I should also mention is that Possibly in Michigan features a stalker pursuing two girls throughout a mall, while the first Lacey video shows her dealing with a stalker, and eventually heading to a mall... Spoilers Okay, obvious plotline here is Lacey’s uncle (abuser from the other videos) killed her dog, the last straw after all of the abuse, which led to her killing the uncle and leaving his body under her bed. She won’t leave the house now, too overwhelmed with what happened. So it seems Lacey is a manifestation of Rocío (founder), and the world she wanted to escape to. Potentially, she put herself into the machine? Which would be all of the wires attached to her. So Lacey’s Games became a literal method of escapism, as she won’t let herself leave the house, instead becoming Lacey and living out the 2000’s teen fantasy. However, her past won’t leave her, corrupting the games and her fantasy. Poor girl However, I couldn’t make out all of the corrupted text and things she was saying- can anyone decipher it?

@@Mike-kl5yc Yeah only the first one was normal. And idk about Lacey but I think she might not know any better too until she had to cut off limbs and ears from the rabbit. Maybe she's been mistreated so badly that her morals are messed up and the only thing that finally made her realize that what she was doing was terrifying was cutting off limbs.

"I know. Nobody forced me back inside. But this pain just hurts so comfortably" is easily my favorite line in this entire series so far. It's such a relatable sentiment for me, as I often find myself willingly perpetuating a lot of the same suffering that I had no choice in as a child (namely, not eating). It's a shockingly easy pit to fall into, but it does make sense: People who have been abused and neglected their whole lives are often conditioned into thinking such treatment is normal, even if they logically know otherwise. When finally freed of the abuse, the outside world is so jarring and alien that some will end up seeking out fragments of the way they were treated by their abusers, simply because it's all they've ever known. The pain is comforting. Obviously, this does not apply to every abuse victim; however, I imagine it is as relatable to some others as it is to me.

Watching this as a 22 year old man, recoiled into my chair out of sheer discomfort. These videos do such a good job emulating the horror of the mid 2000's internet, when people realised they can use it to traumatise kids for free. I can clearly remember old flash games and animations that scared the shit out of me, and these videos capture that energy perfectly. Also, Lacey is one of the most likable horror protagonists I've ever seen, she's great. Her design feels so period appropriate, absolutely captures that "I'm 15 and I think I know how to draw anime" energy that is synonymous with the mid 2000's.

The scene with the cage hit like a truck, “nobody forced me back inside, but the pain hurt so comfortably” are two incredible lines. It’s like, even though she isn’t being abused in that moment (like is what is heavily implied to be going on), the pain from it still hurts. Traumatised people can act in a way that tries to make sure they never get hurt like that again, and we see that a lot from Lacey in this video. I think the cage is imagery for the way trauma can ‘trap’ someone and can make them feel like they can’t fight back, and just accept it. In order words: “the pain hurt so comfortably” Additionally, I love the line at 10:50, because it can be taken at face value as a grounding / coping mechanism, but can also dive so much deeper. As someone who’s been through therapy, one of the first grounding techniques therapists teach are ‘confirmations’ (“I am [name]” “I am real” “I am safe” etc), so this could just be taken at face value as this. But, another way of viewing it is to consider how Lacey has obviously gone through some *intense* trauma, and that changes people. I think a more interesting approach is to consider *Lacey* referenced at 10:50 as a different person than the Lacey we see, the Lacey dealing with this past trauma. And the “I am Lacey” is more of her trying to become the real, true ‘Lacey’, the Lacey before all this trauma. The Lacey who could go out shopping, listening to records and cds, before losing “my little angel”. It was a massive aha moment seeing “my little angel” at 14:25, I was really confused at 8:31 reading the flashing text after seeing the pigs, I originally thought it was someone else talking about Lacey as the “little angel”, as we know what happened to Lacey in Diner. I think the “you” in this bit of text is the uncle, the speaker is talking about abuse which we know the uncle did, as well as a heavy implication that “you” was killed (implied to be killed by Lacey given the tone and “you have no regards. I had none either”), and we know the uncle was killed because he became an ingredient in the ‘food’. I need to make a wholeass essay talking about this because I have so much to say about this MASTERPIECE

I think the little angel was Lacey's dog, that the uncle killed(?). I'm thinking that maybe the part of I'm the dog that bit his neck is supposed to represent that Lacey's dog attacked the uncle (either defending Lacey or simply because it was being abused too). This is described as a mistake, because it's probably what pushed Lacey from a feeling of emptiness to outright killing her uncle because he took away probably the only thing she loved in her life.

9:37 whenever she called her obvious depressing moment “edgy” it actually hurt. And then we she said she felt dumb like I relate to that. It’s the failure to see the obvious in the moment that can really dehumanize you, and how she feels like these feelings are stupid. She doesn’t really take into account that she’s REALLY feeling this, and not making it up. It’s almost impostor syndrome-y and tbh same. And at 10:49 when she says “im Lacey” it’s like she’s reassuring herself, like she’s not really sure if she’s even still herself. She’s just standing there at the mirror, and she says “she’s not afraid of herself” when she clearly is. It’s like this reassuring to yourself that whoever hurt her cant take away who *she* is, when they clearly can.
@Yukino-0143 ай бұрын
As someone who also relates strongly to the edgy moment part, I often feel like this is how I look like to people around me who aren't familiar with these feelings. Just an emo guy having their overdramatic edgy moment, sinking into their depressive mood, whining about nonsense when the solution (the key) is literally laid out in plain sight. Bonus points if said people pull out the blank platitudes such as "it's all in your brain", "stop caring so much about little things", "you don't look depressed", etc. In Lacey's case, I believe her monologue in the cage is directed at the viewer (or the "player"), and for all she knows, that person may also be a stranger to severe depression. So, she downplays her own feelings herself, before the viewer gets a chance to speak. Also, she might feel like it's just... more bearable to put herself down, instead of listening to others do it. It's soul-crushing either way, because her feelings are all very real and valid. Anyway, from one Internet wanderer to the next: remember that it's okay to feel depressed, that these feelings are not at all edgy or stupid, and that the solution to your problems being in plain sight doesn't necessarily make them an easy fix all the time, nor does it invalidate them. Leaving your comfort zone ain't easy. Take care of yourself!

"These are the REAL girl games" Damn. That sentence sent chills down my spine. Although I can thankfully say that I never experienced something as awful and traumatic as s*xual ass*ult or any sort of extreme abuse, being a woman meant that I was always warned to be overly cautious and take care of myself, because living as a girl means living in fear of what some bad inclined indivial might do to you once they get the chance or - even worse - being taken advantage of and living the rest of your life carrying the weight of someone else's wrongdoings. I hope this series can be used to let people know how SA can affect a victim's life, and potentially serve as a comfort series for those who survived such horrific acts.

9:17 is such an amazing moment. no music. no sound. no jumpscares. just the clock ticking and lacey in her cage, slumped over with a defeated look that says "i want it to be over" while she's grabbing each shoulder tight. seeing lacey go out of her way to crawl into the cage and be contempt with staying in the cage she used to live in actually made me tear up a bit. Here's my theory; The disturbing elements of the games were created by Rocio. So I think that she's making these games to vent about her past/current trauma. Lacey's wardrobe is a representation of possibly a creepy ex of hers and how she fears for her life every time she goes outside. The diner game represents her past with her uncle, and the different ingredients are her living conditions (The cigarette butts could imply that her uncle was burning her with lit cigarettes, the porn mag and used condom are about CSA, her uncle could've been a methead to explain the meth, the broken glass and cockroach imply that the house they were living in was in pretty bad shape) and the dish is a metaphor of the sum of all of her trauma, and how she wants to give a piece of that to all the cold and indifferent people around her. Finally, the petshop flash is about her breaking point. When her uncle killed her dog, the only source of joy in her life, she finally snapped and did what she should've done long ago. Although I don't think she literally killed her uncle (she might've reported him, the uncles corpse could be a figurative representation of him being dead to her and/or him being unable to harm her anymore). The ending with her saying it's a nightmare could be seen as her leaving her past behind and finally being able to live a normal life, but the remains of what happened are still with her and haunting her. The fact that I was able to write out this much from about half an hour of footage is a testament to your amazing storytelling, This is 100% my favorite internet horror series of all time and I hope it gets just as much attention and love as Walten Files, Local 58, and The Mandela Catalogue combined. This is genuinely one of the most emotional series. I don't think I've ever been scared shitless and bawling my eyes out at the same time.

10:29 Lacey claims that the tub is full of lemonade, but I think it’s implying something worse. As we’ve seen from the cage segment, Lacey talk about how she views the cage as comfortable, a cozy home she’s grown into. So what if her uncle did the same things to her but with the bathtub? Perhaps maybe he scared her so badly once that she rushed to the bathtub to hide and got so scared to the point of urinating herself? Pretty disturbing once you think about.

8:25 In my opinion, this part of the pigs seems to me that. Lacey tried to report her uncle about the abuse to her family, but they didn't care, and kept throwing it in her face that she lived with them. That's why she says she "feels like an intruder" and considers him to be pigs, for wanting to keep it hidden, to see everything her uncle did and not help her.

I like how not only does the first segment picture the people who only sees pets as objects, mere toys to play around or decoration, it also imo that viewpoint bleeds into breeding animals to match "beauty" standards in cost of their own health and nature. On the main topic, I love how subtle things reference on Lacey dreaming of future but the past trauma is all she knows and it's this never ending loop because it brings comfort, because it is familiar. Not only that but also the thing that revenge isn't magical cure. It doesn't remove the Hell inside your own mind. It wouldn't surprise me at all, that the normal, small comfort taken away is the last nail in name of revenge. I do also love the small things loosing up the tension, because it gives more kick to the horror. The blood in the bath tub was my favorite one. Definitly in for more, seeing we start to get more glues from behind the game as well.
