Can anyone explain to me why Quint 164 has its own pump, for pumping water, BUT does not have a pre-piped waterway? It just seems like a waste of a perfectly good aerial device to not have a pre-piped master stream.

I’ve noticed that also. Two things come to mind: First it could be homeless people squatting in empty buildings or... Building owners who know their property is never going to get rented again so maybe it’s time to force some equity out of the structure? Just an observation, not necessarily a fact.

This is the first time I've seen a structure fire being tackled with more than ONLY 2 hoses. These guy had 5 HOSES of WATER on the FIRE !

If it is a large commercial building then THERE should be more than 2 lines pulled. This one was quite large and well covered along the length of the structure, great job.

@@wes5150. No problem. Most departments want to try and cut the fire off before it gets any further, but this one looks like it was going pretty good before the trucks arrived. So just pull line hit in the front, center, and end to keep it from advancing to another building. Deprive it of dry material and it will have nothing to ignite.

They should have at least 3 Aerial Ladder water towers in operation. 2.5" handlinres shooting water from the ground over the top of the wall is a waste of time & water in my professional opinion

LA County has had some pretty intense and large fires as of late from what I have been seeing on KZbin. And mentioned below fire bugs will set anything on fire just for the rush, and homeless will start small fires to stay warm or cook what they can find or get. In and in the end a building is destroyed and/or a life is lost, just sad.

Spot on Joseph! And let us not forget about unscrupulous landlords getting tired of owning a building that will never rent again. A little help from a friendly “torch” is not unheard of...so I have read at least😏

@@Kevin19700 yes they will Tamarin. Even where I live in up state NY near Lake Champlain not uncommon for home owners to start the home a blaze for insurance claims. We have houses being leased by just 1 person in 4 different towns, he lives in a city named Newburgh, and some of them need to be redone because they are way out dated and violate codes. IF these burn because no one will rent them or buy them, a spark will mean instant insurance claim.
