I have so much respect and admiration for firemen/firewomen/all rescue people. You are all heroes. Especially the people who were helping with the rescue & recovery on 9/11. I'm from NY, and lost someone in the collapse of the north tower. God bless you all.

I am going back and watching all of firelensman's videos, and this one is great. The fire department did a great job on this one. Not many people know how much fatigue you get sitting on those hoses and moving them around. It does not sound that tough to do, but those hoses beat the crap out of you, especially if you sit there long enough.

Tyres are by about 60 % made of crude oil and soot. That's why a tyre warehouse on fire much looks like an oil fire, doesn't it? Radiant heat must be enormous, so a big thanks to the firefighters' courage!
@jurgenkuhlmann91946 жыл бұрын
This fire clearly shows that tyres are made with a mixture of crude oil and other materials such as silica and nylon which put together burn like hell. This site here looks like an oil well on fire! Chapeau to the bravery of the firefighters who have to put this mess out!

Nothing you can do with that one, except keep it from spreading which they accomplished very well. The building was probably already lost when they got there. Was there any kind of access to the rear? If there was any way to make access to the corners of A/B, and C/D sides and I would see about trying to get a ladder pipe or two up flowing.

@@firelensman I am actually much more aware of that fire scene than you are willing to give me credit for or of having. I posted the comment only because I found it quite interesting and puzzling as to why not a single one of that firefighter's crewmembers came to assist him in his endeavor to do his crews part in suppressing the fire. The firefighter apparently having the will to do so, no matter how problematic his endeavor was obviously going to be, really made an impression on me as to his professional attitude and firefighting training.

I watched one video of a tire shop fire in Chicago and they had to bring in the foam truck from Chicago O'Hare Airport to put that out. And no I'm not being an armchair fireman and saying they should have done that here. I just thought it was interesting.

odeis5 OMG, you didn`t know nothing about nothing, just a tip.... the reaction force from a 700 gpm stream flowing from a nozzle it`s about 300 pounds, and from a 1.000 gpm its about 400 pounds.... let alone the pressure in pump for compensate that tremendous friction loss.... in 100ft in 2-1/2" its 200 psi+80 psi for the nozzle and you need 280 psi at pump panel..... 300-400 pounds of reaction force and you expect a lone ff will counter it just by sitting on the hose?????, with luck it serves until you reaches the 400 gpm mark. He/she is simply wasting water with a stream of 250-400 gpm. Have you ever handled a nozzle at over 100 gpm????, I doubt it. www.akronbrass.com/media/resource-center/theoretical-discharge-solid-bore-nozzles.pdf

+TheFireControl your reference from the website is for there equipment. However those "nozzles" are not smooth bore nozzle... So with that said... A 2 1/2" line depending on the "pressure" for one person should be 80-100psi at the tip is 300-600gpm.. In my 20 years have never flowed 1000gpm via a 2 1/2" line... Max is about 700gpm....
