How the "moving mozart" part works thematically for me is that the game is about remembering/ boasting who is the bidgeest Mozart fan/patron. "Hey remember how he wrote this piece form ME when i paid his voyage to london?"

I was intending to get that game but it was sold out when I wanted to buy it. I'm not quite sure about that one. I love the theme, since I very much like classical music. But I'm unsure how much of the theme comes trough. I will give it some more time to think about it.

Great Review! I really enjoyed hearing all the perspectives. I would've love to hear a bit more about player count. Tom mentioned that this game is not Multiplayer Solitaire but did you guys find that the 2 player experience was not as good then because less people to compete for things? Or was it still enjoyable at 2?
@DTWendy2 жыл бұрын
I still definitely enjoyed it at two. We still got in each other's way plenty, but I was rarely frustrated because there was usually something good to do instead. The area majorities can get pretty tight at two, but some of the instruments can only be written once per player, allowing for more dynamic decision making.

Plays well in my opinion. Still tense watching your opponent decide to take your card, travel to a good location, or take one of the requiem spots you need!

I'm still not sold that there's intentional and meaningful player interaction here. That's the big hangup for me, otherwise looking forward to it.
@iCupboard Жыл бұрын
I played it for the fist time, yesterday. And there is quite a lot of meaningful player interaction, atleast to my liking. In the top, you can buy cards that you see other people need for their set collection. If you see someone that wants to go to a certain place on the travel board, you can move the Mozart away so for them to get back to that place they need to pay (a lot) more money. In the music area, you can block certain movements. Some composer tiles are less than others. So some composers have less interest in a certain movement. You can use this as an advantage to quickly block other people from getting a place in that spot with that particular composer. And also, you can see whether someone already used their "timpani" music note as an example, and hog those spaces so they can't get to use their timpani music token anymore. I hope this makes a bit of sense!

Having two cards and using the top of one and bottom of another is not that unique :)

Yes. The whole look of the game reminded me a lot of Newton actually (not identical but similar). If I were to get the game, it would be more for the theme. I kinda like the respectful and melancholic tone it evokes, a period after the passing of the great composer. Kinda like Rococo for me, knowing what would happen to those people just after the period that game was set in.

@@IamSalva Ok, let me clarify. I didn't mean so specifically the cards. I meant the whole look of the game resembles Newton a lot. And I did say it's similar but not identical. Maybe I should have made that clearer. . Edit: Fixed

First review I've heard someone say it's an interactive game. Chris's first play point is a concern as I'm worried that those two composers are going to dictate how you should play each game.

As a musician I can’t get past the idea that multiple composers are working on the same piece of music lol. Composing is hardly ever (if not never) a collaborative effort.
@Rik77 Жыл бұрын
Thats exactly what happened with this piece of music. Mozarts Requiem was written by several composers. And there are a few different versions by different collab composers.

So the name is a combination of "lachrymose" and "Mozart"? Hm...not sure if I think that's clever or not - should have been called LachryMozart. I dunno...I kind of think this sounds interesting, I do like Mozart and classical music, but somehow it's really not appealing to me. Maybe I'm just not feeling Euro right now; right now it's a try it, not buy it.

Lacrimosa is one of the parts of the Requiem Mass… which Mozart worked on before he died but ironically never completed.

@@JonTalbain777 Yes I think that’s likely the intention, and in fact there are a number of well known completions of Mozart’s Lacrimosa that are great to check out!
