Don't Miss Lady #2 @ 2:02 -> Cat3 in thick fog to minimums ! ✈️

I remember working on the ramp as a bag handler and always seeing this one pilot. I always wanted to try my luck with her but was always too busy departing different planes or some where and it was a pain in the ass. If was on one side of the tarmac she would always be on the other. But one day luck chose me as it's successor and i finally got my chance. Only to see a gold ring on her finger. Nice one...

B,B Aviation is right ! I should have looked at the video more closely--an old adage in aviation is "never do anything in a hurry." I should have known better having been an instructor and Chief Pilot on DC-10s. A student once asked me how I would compare the two planes. Two ways, I replied 1) The DC-10 is a Ferrari and the B 747 a Rolls-Royce 2) a DC-10 is like an exciting mistress and the B747 is a beautiful wife !:

BB--I have to say that your aviation observation is outstanding--did you fly the DC-10 ? I have flown Austers, Tiger Moths, Fox Moths, DC-3s, F 27s, Super Constellations, Tridents, Boeing 707s and 720s, DC-10s and Boeing 747s. I loved every moment of it !

Is that cartoon in the beginning Rosie? Hey Rosie! I built (machined) Pratt & Whitney Aircraft (PWA) Turbine Engines in East Hartford, CT for years. JT3D, JT 8D GG4 GG3. Hey Rosie..Rosie the Riveter. WWII women were all over these monotonous jobs as they persevere in this maybe dealing with children so much made them more able to repeat the same thing? Who knows. But hats off to these equally important ladies to get the job done. Like the ladies in this video. We are all equal. If one thinks no...we will be...even to all without a doubt. Cool Vid. Going up in a day. Can't wait!. Riding a Pratt Engine! After all these years I probably did make part of it. Yeee Haaw!
@doright64618 жыл бұрын
ps. I said no to very big people if parts didn't see my standards. there are whole families riding these parts even with one passenger. I trust the work I did.. That's the Pratt way. See ya when I get back.

why is it that we think ladies can't land planes, they have the same brain so why not women landing they are just as good as men and in some situations better than men
@Mightiflier10 жыл бұрын
Women tend to have more right brain activity which correlates to creative artistic ability: like flying a plane.

The first landing was on a Boeing 747. It was an automatic landing which only required the pilot flying to disconnect the autopilot on touch down. The second one was an MD (now Boeing) 11. The autopilot was disconnected at minimum altitude and a manual landing made. There is no reason why a female pilot cannot be as skillful as a male one.

good idea to check the automatic ground-spoiler retraction (@ 2:15) applying thrust (on ground after landing). Is this procedure of that particular airline ? Or an personal check of a thoughtful captain ? Anyway, we did not do it on any plane I flew. Although it would not harm, only help to check an important safety functionality.

I agree. Had they gotten a sudden gust of wind he'd be needing to explain to the FAA why he only halfway assisted his copilot on the rollout. It would probably be something like "oh well I was busy messing around with the hand mike talking to atc." The captain which I'm sure already knows that's why headsets were invented in the first place. So pilots have their hands free and ready to keep safe operation of the plane. Last time I checked you can't control an aircraft one handed completely.
@quiteactually11 жыл бұрын
Good stuff, although one thing I wouldn't recommend (3:43) is picking up a hand mike on rollout.
@BBHemisnJets12 жыл бұрын
Depends on many things - Weather , Aircraft equipment...etc etc, but it's really every pilots own discretion. Baring company policies, some like to disengage and hand fly earlier- and some will let the Jet fly itself all the way in - till just about where this Lady took control. : In the foggy weather here→ She wants and she let the A/P simply do its job.

The four of us are sitting here wondering why this got so many hits simple because they have a female flying. Are they that many guys living their lives between their legs? I can teach many female's to land these but the problem comes up, when? What if the weather turns real nasty, lost an engine, pressure, hydraulics, instruments, and on and on. I met some good female pilots, so it is not a big deal. Have fun ladies.
