The 'Lipstick Gun" is a representation of her sin/betrayal (to Jesus). Gaga puts lipstick on Judas. When Judas betrayed Jesus by the kiss, Gaga's lipstick will also mark Jesus' face thus representing that she has been part of it. The water scenes are symbolism of baptism tho

@@klaudiaszmer6395 that's a very good point. Back in those times, people are being stoned to death (commiting crimes/sin) Mary Magdalene (for she was a prostitute) was one of them. Jesus saved Mary Magdalene. In Lady Gaga's video, I think what she is trying to say is that she needs to pay for her sins even tho she has been forgiven.

This is one of Gaga’s greatest videos she’s done. The artistic direction is beautiful, the fashion choices works so well and contrasts the setting (the video had a lot of controversy as people who never heard the song thinks it’s about blasphemy/heresy, and Gaga state once that the only sin in the video is mixing fashion designers in one look lol). The value of the fashion department of this video alone can probably produce 10+ videos. The research done with religion is mixed well with the video and song. It’s just done SO WELL.

People have been trying to catch up to Gaga for years. She was seen as weird in the beginning of her career because she expressed herself and people ignored her vocals. IMO, since she connected with Tony Bennett, people started to pay attention and of course, after A Star is Born, people really began to notice her talent. Thru her whole career, she's always had 'hidden' messages in her videos and I haven't truly understood the meaning of each one but I am always impressed with her artistry!

Judas has a very deep meaning. It means "falling inlove to someone new". Its like adultery. Jesus is her virtue (husband) and judas is the demon i cling to (new found lover). Its very deep and this is my favorite song of hers.

I'm so glad that you enjoyed it! Surprisingly, this song did not do as well for her as it (IMO) should have done. I think the religious allegories turned some people off. Which is dumb because this song was and always will be a BANGER. The thing here is that Lady Gaga is playing Mary Magdalene. She's Jesus's girlfriend (in this video) but she's drawn to Judas. She says in the video that Judas has hurt her multiple times but she'd still do anything for him because she's drawn to him and doesn't know why. And then she helps Judas betray Jesus (by marking him with the lipstick aka the kiss of death) which gets him killed. And then because of her role in it, she's stoned to death at the end.

The one in the crown of thorns is Jesus Norman Reedus is Judas, who has a constant menacing look for the character. They all have names in the back of the jacket except perhaps Jesus because the crown of thorns is his symbol. Although she’s not playing Mary Magdalene, Gaga is using many of Mary Magdalene’s storylines on herself. This includes the line “fame hooker prostitute wench vomits her mind,” as a common story of Mary is that she was a prostitute. Mary was also nearly stoned to death before Jesus came, which is why you have the stoning scene in the end. Mary is also considered to be the female apostle or apostle of apostles which is why Gaga’s character is the only female in the same plane as the other guys. There’s A LOT of biblical references in this video. For “Build a house or sink a dead body,” she pays St. Peter on the back as Peter was the one who established Christianity as a religion (the house). The Morningstar weapon is also seen and its namesake references the devil. Washing Jesus’ feet was a thing and it contrasts to the story of when he washes other people’s feet. The flood scene is more of a spiritual metaphor to the many water related stories in the Bible. There’s a lot more lol
