Looking good. Thanks for the shout-out. I'm glad you saw that tip. If you put your shore power plug on the rear back panel below your lights, you will find the vent. It makes a great spot to pass the cord through. If you decide to take the headliner down to add reflectix, pull it all the way out and all the way in the back you will find an opening. This seems to be a common place for mice entering the van from the engine area. I put kilmat over the area 👍. All the extra prep will be so worth it.

I like watching other people work, and few are as pleasant to watch as you. This almost takes me back to the excellent "aircrete" videos where you worked so hard. It's a shame you didn't have access to a big oil-free air compressor and big fan, to just blow out all the dust. Or it can be used to blow liquid cleaner out of nooks and crannies after going at it with a squirt bottle or garden sprayer. Just put rags down below and blow any remaining cleaner down to them. Your method was 100x faster than doing it with Q tips, but 100x slower than using a blowgun on a compressor. Two of the best tools/toys I bought in 2024 were ultra-quiet oil-free air compressors.. One has a 1-gallon tank and can be carried with one hand, the other has a 26 gallon tank and acts like a top-heavy load on a hand truck. Either is fine for filling tires or blowing off dirt/dust, it's just a matter of how long you can go before you have to stop while it refills the tank when doing a lot with it. Being able to use a compressor without hearing protection or going deaf, is a game changer for many tasks. I wish I'd gotten rid of my noisy compressors a long time ago. But on the other hand, many air tools are almost obsolete due to cordless tools now.

I've lived in a truly uninsulated Promaster for over 5 years. The secret to success is:..the southwest where snowbirds that get it, have survived for melemium. Didn't have time or funds in my early build to install any insulation. I use big white barBque tanks and Coleman green ones to stay warm in early mornings. It works, but I can get my sleep times started at 4 pm in below freezing on cold desert mornings ! 👍 Rock on 🙂.

For crooks and crannies, I see no problem with Poli-fil, especially because you are aware of the options and have made an informed decision. It will help a bit with sound buffering (not deadening), too. It would be a good idea to just double check that you haven't crammed too much in (haven't compacted it too much). Looking forward to your next step.
@EfficientRVer4 күн бұрын
Compacting it more reduces the airflow even more, so the more the merrier. The steel conducts heat/cold regardless of how well you insulate the interior of a steel box/C section. It really is about stopping the river of air moving in those channels, and stopping convection in the channels, not adding R value. The R value will still remain near 0 because of the metal conduction, but then the cold air will form and flow only from the inside surfaces, not also from the unseen surfaces. So, it cuts down the amount of heat transfer by eliminating convection, not by reducing conduction.

Because you're heating the whole van as you live in it, if you don't insulate the cubby space up front, you'll get condensation in cooler weather. If you push clothes and blankets up against the roof, they will absorb the moisture and potentially get moldy!!!
@LadyBugout4 күн бұрын
The area has the van headliner which is what that is made for so it should be sufficient. I move things around enough that they won’t have time to get moldy if they are planning to 😝
