His posture is insecure aggression. "This is my tree; my branch. Why are you here?" It is territorial and is exactly what a young eagle should be doing; learning to protect "his territory." If Dad brings a fish, E-9 will take it from him and dare him to try to get it back. That's part of being an eagle.

Joe Scoggins So is that why E9 was doing all the chittering? Papa never chittered a word. E does seem to steal the food from both mom and pop. I guess Harriet and M15 ear out a lot. Not much chance of a family dinner together, is there.

omgosh Iv been following E9 and I thought there was a video that he flew but never new she fell, I been gone for a minute. I about cried Im so happy to see shes ok. The parent bringing her a fish was priceless. xo e9

Dad is so confident in this one as he always is. Agree Ladyhawk priceless expression he gives off while he cocks his head to the side and turns it to observe E9 lol. The baby wasn't quite sure what to do. Nice E9 got to eat right after this, momma had to go hunt for dinner on this night.

This is the time where dad says, "Its time E9 for you to go out on your own. We have taken care of you long enough, spread your wings and fly son". I noticed last year the two eaglets were here on the branches with mom and dad for a long time and in the next few days after that they were gone. This must be the place where dad and mom have talks with their young.

OMG, that's so priceless! E9 expects food from dad, then suddenly realizes there is no food. M flies past E9 to the branch behind. All the while E9 is whinning, then he/she suddenly turns around to show dad his/her poutty face hoping dad will feel sorry and go fishing. LOL. E9 is putting on such a convincing pitiful act for dad it's surprising it's having no effect. We're even hanging our head down like we really feel so weak and needful. Then, when M (dad) turns his back to E9, that was hilarious! Did E9 get fish?

M15 is having the talk! He is telling her it will soon be time to go. "You better learn how to hunt for your own food and not just defend. Your mother and I won't keep bringing you food. In several weeks, you will have to go."

E9 looks so big. Is he bigger than mom and dad or is it just this angle? I loved the one look dad gave his son.....I can just imagine what he was thinking.

No E9 is smaller than Harriet and about the same size of M. He has his feathers puffed out so he is appearing to look larger than them. Thank you for watching!!

No not at all psdavenport. Dad is observing E9's behavior. Notice how E9 holds his head down and has a soft voice? This is insecure aggression E9 is displaying. The other day, E9 was more aggressive towards him. A few minutes after Dad left, Mom arrived with a fish and E9 vocalized and dropped down to the nest to claim it.

You refer E9 as a male. Does he look closer to a male or female? Is E9 big enough to be a female? By the way, they are so lovely.

Hi Zoey. We don't know the gender of E9 without a blood test but I do think E9 is a male. I agree, this family is amazing to watch.

E9 is pretty much fully grown and has been well fed but looks closer to the size of M than Harriet. This makes it more likely E9 is male, since males are smaller than females. As Lady Hawk says though we'll probably never know for sure.

I love their interaction, but it appears E9 is more aggressive towards M than Harriet. Is it because he brings in most of the food and E9 expects him to bring it each time? Just my observation..

E9 certainly did look bigger than M. E9 feet are larger too. maybe E9 is a female that would explain why she gives H a hard time. 😁
