I absolutely love Dora, and her antics. My own cat does the same pawing thing when I stop petting her, and is often found curled up on fabric I'm actually using. She also keeps knocking my tablet over when Dora comes on screen, because she's trying the find the other cat that lives in it😆😆. I love this dress and you did an amazing job of recreating it!! I want to make the dress you see when she gets out at the docks.

@@LadyRebeccaFashions I watched Morgan Donner make it a few months ago, and was so intimidate about fabric and construction, that it's gone back on the "maybe someday" list.

@@dancooper-jones yeah, there's no way I'm drawing my stripes on! I'll wait till I find fabric that will work. Jedimanda has several videos about hers (she used spoonflower fabric), and goes into a lot more detail than Morgan, so I recommend checking out her videos.

I actually made a "kids' costume" version of the swim dress a couple of years back for my Titanic-obsessed middle niece. She was... 11, at the time, I think, tall & thin as a reed, so there were some serious modifications needed as she had no bust at the time. (I made it with LOADS of excess fabric at all of the seams so it could be let out if/as needed.) I couldn't find the exact colors for the chiffon layers (& the screen version is some ridiculously expensive stuff that was specially dyed, anyway. I didn't have time or budget for that, so I just sort of fudged it by using multiple layers). Let me tell you, adding "room to grow" in chiffon is a beast. I'm so grateful she didn't want either the "jump" dress or the dinner/evening gown. I basically told her mom those would have to wait until we were pretty sure she was done growing!

The cosplay is amazing! Extremely flattering and I think it’s REALLY screen accurate! Plus, the spitting scene reenactment is just the cherry on top. I think that is the underrated best scene in Titanic. So excited to see the swim dress, fingers crossed!💕

OMG, Dora defeats in her cuteness! lol That embroidery is just stunning. I've not tried an embroidery machine before, it looks like a lot of fun! Your outfit looks perfect in comparison to the movie, all your effort was not wasted. I don't think I realized how complicated this dress actually was! I do hope you can do the swim dress and coat. I own a bunch of the Titanic dresses from Franklin Mint (I have some resin ball-jointed dolls they fit) and the swim dress is the favorite of the ones I own. I wish I had this dress as well from the Franklin Mint, but it was not one I've picked up yet. And even if they're not constructed the way a person's costume would be, it's nice to have the mini version to refer back to for comparison, as they are very much accurate to the movie. Good luck finding the material for the dress!

Thanks! Unfortunately, there's almost no fabric stores in the Seattle area outside of Joann's and a couple mom and pop quilt shops. 😔 Not sure about Portland. That's why I always try to get as much as I can in LA!

Years ago, I bought the Simplicity Titanic inspired pattern for the "jump" dress, which I bought royal blue fabric for, and the "swim" dress. I still haven't made the dress. My fabric and notions sit sadly in my closet. Tell Dora hi and we love her, too. And, hi to Lion.
