in the show they’re assuming that because Laenor is gay Addam and Alyn of Hull are Corlys’s bastards, Addam claims Seasmoke as a dragonseed, and Laenor is claimed dead in the show, this can all work in whatever way they want. book and show canon are totally different from each other, sure, but if Laenor is still alive in the show because he flees Driftmark, how did Addam claim Seasmoke? dragons can’t be claimed/bonded to multiple people, so would that fact alone insinuate Laenor died after he fled or are we assuming dragons are not in tune enough with their riders that they can’t tell if they’re really gone or not? Laenor is dead in F&B and that’s why Seasmoke is able to be claimed.

@@ameasharatcliff6357 the House of Velaryon descended from Old Valyria therefore having Valyrian blood, while Aegon I’s mother is also a Velaryon! Velaryons and Targaryens are also intermarried at many different sections of the family tree. As for the Dragonseeds, Addam and Alyn of Hull descended from Corlys or Laenor, both Ulf the White and Hugh Hammer are Valyrian descended (no info on their parentage), and Nettles has mixed Valyrian descent. with this info we can assume that to ride a dragon you have to be a descendant of a line from Old Valyria, not necessarily “blood of the dragon”. I hope this helps and makes sense :)

In the books he dies in essos making it possible for Adam to claim his dragon and well 🤷 it wouldn't make sense for anyone in westros to get news that he died when he is already considered dead. I don't know how the show would manage to get word of his death out to confirm his dragon could be claimed by another. I think we should just consider him dead because he is in the books and has no real part to play. His return would actually weaken the queens claim to the throne because if she was married to a very much alive laenor then her marriage to her uncle and her children by him would be illegitimate and it would reignite rumors about Jace's legitimacy leaving her the queen with all bastard heirs 😅 while that would be dramatic laenor loved his family and was grateful to her for allowing him to leave before things became to intense for him to handle. He wouldn't harm her like that.
