I grew up going to this park. From the mid 60's on, I have always loved going to Lagoon. So much history not mentioned in this video, like some of the chart topping music acts that performed there in the past are definitely worth mentioning. While I was too young to remember them, I have heard of so many amazing concerts that were seen at Lagoon. Hendrix, anyone? I still remember when the rock tunnels inside Dracula's Castle rotated. There was also the original fun house (right next to the Terror Ride) that had large slides, a spinning disc, rotating barrel, "Mexican Hat" and the initial obstacle course that had air blasts from below. The penny arcade in the 70's was incredible. Anyone else remember the old pool? Not Lagoon-a-Beach, it was a huge swimming pool. While I miss the old, I am so glad to see the place I spent so much time, still thriving and making others happy.

Lagoon has always been my “home” theme park despite growing up more 2.5 hours away. Since the age of 26, I moved to a major city that has two theme parks. One being a Six Flags. Naturally I’ve been to both several times. We purchase season passes to the Six Flag Park nearly every year. On top of that, thanks work obligations, I travel from coast to coast, and everywhere in between, year round. If there is an amusement park within a couple of hours of me, I try to stay a couple of extra days. I can usually get at least one of my colleagues to join me. In all honesty, there has only been one park that compares to Lagoon and that’s LEGOland in San Diego. Universal Studios was up there too. But the Disney parks, the two parks within 30 minutes of me... none of them come close to the Lagoon experience. And that includes parks with an integrated theme hotel. My name is first on the list when it comes to SLC assignments. With an hour’s deviation, when traveling home, I can easily work Lagoon into my plans. My colleagues never believe me when tell theme that their is a better place than where we are. I love proving them wrong. Unfortunately, living up to the Lagoon experience is difficult task. If you can, go!

Lagoon has a very special place in my heart. Not only did I grow up go here every year I also worked for Lagoon for 3 seasons. In 1994, 1997, and 2000. I worked in foods my first season (94). Then I worked in Rides. I have had the best memories working for Lagoon. I operated the following rides; Tidal Wave, Speedway Sr. (now gone), Speedway Jr., Helicopters, Baby Boats, Bulgy the whale, Terroride, Dracula's Castle, Sky Coaster, Scaliwags, Musik Express, and Rock O Plane. I remember staying late nights after closing to help clean the water trough of Puff, and Baby Boats. I also would assist in cleaning Roller Coaster as well as the beloved Carousel. It was an unforgettable time. I still have my name tag to this day along with my last uniform shirt.

I live in Utah, near SLC (basically Mormon capital but it isn't as bad as you would think) and this always has been my go-to theme park. I've been here almost every year for my whole life with family and friends and it's pretty fuckin' neat. My parents and grandparents used to go here as kids as well way back when. Lots of memories here, it's definitely a hidden gem. It doesn't have the most thrilling rides in the world but goddamn if Cannibal isn't stepping it up a notch. By the way, this park looks amazing at night (Colossus, Lagoon-a-Beach, Wicked and a few other places look really cool), shame there isn't much night footage on the internet.

I miss the Fun House. So very glad they've kept the dark rides at Lagoon (Dracula's Castle and Terror Ride). So classic. Dark rides are a dying attraction. I love the fact that they're keeping them alive.
@mr.thorne32397 жыл бұрын
I like how the changed terroride, yet I hate it. it's a very historical ride and they butchered it. yet, it is way cooler. dracula's castle is still here for a visit to a old dark ride, although the toke out the dragon and put in the gorilla from terroride a long time ago, which was then transfered to physco dave's junkyard during frightmares. The funhouse of fear at frightmares is supposed to be the fun house coming back but demented

I know I’m biased considering my mom ignored the “don’t ride while pregnant” rule and oddly enough colossus fire dragon is still one of my favorites, been riding since before birth and all. But all in all Lagoon is a great park, they mix the classic with the new trying to have the best of both worlds and succeeding as far as I can tell. My kids love the train and family area. If you’re passing through it’s definitely worth spending a day.

Although not growing up in the area I visited the LAGOON park twice. Once with my parents & a few years later when visiting friends in Salt Lake City. In remembering the experience I was sorry to learn that the amazing Fun House had to be closed down in the mid 1980‘s. I think it was the best Fun House I ever experienced although the one in Pacific Ocean Park in Los Angeles (or was it Santa Monica?) & one at Jantzen Beach near Portland, Oregon were stiff competition. Neither of those 2 parks exist anymore as far as I know but POP in Santa Monica may still be operational in some way. The best of the 3 for me still was in the LAGOON Park but safety & operational expenses contributed to, its closure so I heard. The building where the Fun House stood is still there, I hear, but is used food services & office space apparently. Many fond memories remain however.

Yep. Lagoon is not the biggest or most thrilling park in the world, but it's absolutely dripping with history and nostalgia. And I eat that kind of stuff up. I've never met an out-of-towner that wasn't pleasantly surprised with the park.
@woodencoasterfan8 жыл бұрын
+Jacob Wood count me as one of them. I spent three full days at Lagoon and was pleasantly surprised by this park. I knew of its unique collection of coasters and the two Bill Tracy dark rides but I was not prepared for the level of detail in the Pioneer Village. The Merry-go-round from the Allen Herschell Co was absolutely beautiful and the Roller Coaster (aka White Coaster) was much smoother than I was anticipating given that it is the world's 9th oldest coaster.

Name The Log Flume is the only ride from Arrow at Lagoon, but was originally from a park out in Washington I think it was. But interestingly enough, Dal Freeman who designed Wicked, Bombora, and Cannibal has been working with Lagoon since the 90's once he left Arrow, so the park still has some extreme ties to the company that way.

For those that want to come, a tip: since Utah is heavily populated by Mormons you can take advantage of this and go on a Sunday. Especially if you time your trip to come during the off season with Frightmares. They have the place all painted up for Halloween and you can avoid dealing with long lines. I went last year and while I still had to wait to get on the Cannibal, it was the span of one ride before I got to go on around roughly 1 pm where you'd think the line would be out of the park by then.
