About Zlatan Ibrahimovic, I agree that during his career he was not associated with any team, but in the end he became heavily associated to AC Milan. Him coming back and bringing not only a title to them, but getting Milan back to that competitive mindset of "We are AC Milan, we enter a competion to win it". His farewell from football was really good and emotional. I just can't imagine Lukaku doing the same, but well anything can happen .

I think he reminds me more of Nicolas Anelka than someone like Zlatan. Zlatan has a huge fanbase for his personality alone even if it isn't club specific, whereas Anelka despite being a brilliant player, played for that many clubs sometimes with conflicting interests that he never really developed a relationship with any of them despite being touted as one of the best strikers of his generation.

As a Belgian I will always awkwardly stand up for him. Yes, he never shows up in our big moments in actual tournaments (not since 2014) but he's our top goalscorer of all time by a stupid margin. We love and hate him, but it's mostly love. I remember his 89th minute equalizer in a painful match against greece, the brace against croatia to qualify for the 2014 wc, a hat trick against sweden last year and some other things. He is just a metaphor for our golden generation.

Fyi when Romelu Lukaku was 16 or 17, the Belgian tv did a series on him in which he said that playing at Chelsea was his ultimate goal. He just wants to be the main guy in a team and be loved by fans, which sadly he has not achieved that in any club before. The main thing with Lukaku is that he is really good until he suddenly isnt. He was one of the main guys that got Inter to the UCL final, just for him to also be the main guy to stop them from winning it, same with Belgium, he is part of the golden generation and suddenly drops an awful performance in the world cup and euros. Nothing wrong with wanting fresh starts and I hope he achieves something with Napoli and Conte.

I'll happily concede that in the right system Lukaku can be an extremely valuable player so his number will look good in 20 years time. At the same time he hasn't nearly been consistent enough to warrant calling him a top 10 ST. When you get Lukaku it's more of a gamble than anything. Will it be his performances? Will it be his attitude? Or maybe you actually get a quality ST. If we base it on what a player can do in the right system then Serhou Guirassy should be up there in the conversation for Europe's best 5 STs. Obviously he isn't because he was only fantastic in one season so far. Lukaku doesn't make the Top 10 right now nor does he make the Top 10 of his generation. Maybe the Top 15 if he's lucky. But the numbers will deceive people so I wouldn't be surprised if I hear people claim he was one of the best in 20 years time.
