I firmly believe that 95+% of the time, “mental illness“ is used and handed out freely as an excuse and permission to act out. Literally, at times everyone has, and will experiences difficulties. Experiencing depression, anger, sadness, anxiety and what not Isn’t mental illness. It’s called life. I don't understand why this happened. These cops were called to one address to check on some disturbance and when they went to the first house they were sent to a second house by the occupants of the first house? Why? And then the cops proceed to walk right into the second house with no warrants or anything? Cops usually dont walk into houses like this. I think these cops did something wrong in this situation. Im sorry one of them was killed and two were injured but I don't think the cops should have just walked into some darkened house where they weren't called to in the first place!

The problem with mental illness, is not the illness, but how its diagnosed, handled and treated. When all the Mental Health centers were closed and patients were set free many without guidance, medications or a follow-up plans, they were released among society with no direction or course to integrate back.. In California under Governor Reagan the deinstitutionalization movement began and soon other states followed, this has proven to be a total disaster both for the patients and for society in general.

No they went to the right house & this Julie S was there punching her neighbors. Once the Sheriffs found out where Julie S lived they did a wellness check on the other family members. Details ? Well nobody would answer the door when the Sheriffs announced they were there. So they found an open window & went into the house. No one should have died 💯% with you on that.

Mental health issues can be empowering yet immobilizing and at the end of the day while all of that is certainly true.. you certainly cannot just rush someone else's residence without having exhausted the proper legal actions and getting a valid search warrant. These deputies had no business just taking it upon themselves to enter a private residence and that's regardless to what the deputies claimed to think. Imagine how much officer link regrets trying to involve himself with things that he had spent over five years getting used to doing outside of the confines of the law. This situation was tragic and there's no denying it but that being said though.. this particular situation called for special measures like genuine hostage negotiations units or individuals if not directly upon arrival then certainly after the first attempt at illegal entry into the home of these people and the first exchange of gunfire. I understand that law enforcement officers dabble in a dangerous job and they do it on a daily basis but the law doesn't begin or end with their suspicion and take it from someone who studied law and graduated with a law degree.. this was a clear violation of the Constitution of the United States and like it or not we have laws in place not only designed to protect the people from authority but as these officers now know.. they are precisely in place for law enforcement officers safety as well. I was never on either side of the legal questions but what I do stand for unequivocally is the United States constitution. They should never have ever attempted illegal entry into the home of private citizens regardless of what they felt or any suspicion they may or may not have had. The rights of the people don't end at officers suspicion in any cases or situations. Rest in peace to the officer that lost his life in a situation he didn't belong and a home he knowingly illegally entered . Prayers to the family as well 🙏🏻
