LAKE DISTRICT FELL RUNNING | THE ENNERDALE HORSESHOE FELL RACE | ROUTE RECCE

In this video I run a recce of the Ennerdale Horseshoe Fell Race which is this Saturday 10th June 2023 in which I'm taking part.
I won't lie I'm shitting myself. The race is 23 miles around the stunning Ennerdale Valley in the Lake District with some respectful elevation and not a lot of opportunity to refill your water bottle.
The timing's (in my opinion) are cheeky so I'll be racing against the clock on this one. My main aim is not to time out on the check points. This recce took me 9.5 hours!
I love fell racing. I haven't done a great deal but I love the simplicity of the sport which is summed up beautifully in this article..

Absolutely AWESOME! This is the best running channel on KZbin by a country mile, I love it. I think that balls-to-the-wall-and-hanging-on-by-our-fingernails is the best strategy, it will be the only way to beat the cut-offs 🤞 I am bricking it, but a challenge is always good. No clag forecast on Saturday 😎☀🌞 See you at the start 💪 P.S. As my mate summed it up, "The last 6 miles are easy, the rest, not so easy!"

Hope you have recovered nothing being in the hurt locker just past the half way point. Fantastic watch. Ennerdale and the surrounding area is just sublime. Just watching brings back so many great memories. Just over two weeks and I’ll be back in the Lakes so keep the good weather please. Watch out for those pot holes on the way out of Ennerdale if parked in west side.

Ennerdale can turn into a long day where ever the destination. Something about the length of the valley, deceptive at times I think. CFR have reccy runs with insider knowledge of the best lines. Being a local club stomping ground and all. I've done both sides and back down the valley but still to tackle the full "shoe" so bloody good effort John. Thoroughly enjoyed bud keep on keeping on. Hi Olga. Tbh I’m probably not going to film the race. I want to focus on racing. I’ll probably take a small GoPro to make a Instagram short but that’s about it :)

Great effort on the actual race! Signed up for my first marathon & did my longest run to date this weekend. Felt horrendous during but I’ve bounced back, no DOMS which tells me there’s more in the tank 🤙 Keep up the content, we enjoy the update on the niggles, reminds us that it isn’t just ourselves 😅

No mate I’ve decided not to film this race I want to focus on making the timing cut offs. I’ll take a GoPro just to get some shots for an IG reel but that’ll be it on this one. I’m running the Great Lakes fell race next Saturday too. I ‘might’ film that I’m not sure yet 🤘🏻

Makes sense, especially with the cut off times you’ll be wanting to focus on those rather than slowing yourself down. Cool, sounds like that’ll be a good run too, and perhaps less pressure on timings. Good luck for both and hope all goes to plan mate 👍🏻
