My husband and I backpacked round England when we were students. Everyone was so helpful and we have the fondest memories of those times. The Lake District is especially beautiful. Do go for a visit if you can.

Spent 100+ days in Windermere and vicinities assisting flood victims a few years ago. Learned my ancestors called Kirkby Stephen home a 1000 years ago! Stayed at St. John’s Lodge B&B in Windermere which was marvellous and friendly! Things must have been very difficult for my ancestors to have left such a beautiful area!

how can somebody give Thumbs down to such a nice video! Thank you very much for sharing. Unfortunately when I was in UK I could visit only Lake Windermere
@Brian-om2hh
@Brian-om2hh 3 жыл бұрын
You probably wouldn't find it, as there is no such place as Lake Windermere. It's just Windermere. The "mere" part of Windermere denotes a lake anyway, so there is no need to add the word Lake. The thumbs down was probably an RAF pilot. Because the RAF use the Lake District for low level flight training, and drones are an additional hazard they could probably do without. The person flying the drone here obviously didn't bother to check first I imagine. In any case, the National Trust has a blanket ban on drones and model aircraft over flying their property, so he shouldn't have flown anyway.........

Stunningly spectacular scenery, but like Oliver, “Can I have MORE, please?” Some - most - shots could definitely have lingered longer, giving us more time to absorb and enjoy the wondrous views. Still loved it though, especially as it was enhanced by well chosen music. Thank you! 👏👏

I spend as much of my time as I can in the lakes, and have done since I was a boy, seventy years ago. Clambered and climbed everywhere when I was younger, now I just sit and gaze. I’m from rural Norfolk, a beautiful area, but I’d move to the lakes tomorrow if I could! BTW, could someone please tell me the details of the music accompanying this video; I’d be most grateful.

Wild camping is illegal in the Lake District Denise. The LDNPA and Police issued over 700 fixed penalty notices last year, for this and other breaches of Lake District National Park regulations.... You are only able to wild camp if you obtain the express permission of the landowner - much Lake District land is privately owned. And even then, you can camp for one night only. The lighting of open fires is also outlawed. If I were you I'd stick to the registered sites and stay legal. Since the Lake District gained World Heritage Status, they are clamping down hard enforcing the regs. Lake District National Park regulations here (scroll down a bit).....www.lakedistrict.gov.uk/visiting/where-to-stay/wild-camping

There are excellent secret locations whereby I can wild camp away from prying eyes. I camp every six weeks in the area. It is a magical place to visit and walk for miles alone with my cat and dog.

Actually it’s very low in a lot of the lakes there is a band of medium level that follows the granite outcrops, the highest levels are in Cornwall, followed by North Wales but even there you’re only talking about around 1.5% of the safe level, it’s just the natural background level that comes from granite.
