Lake District Wild Camping - The *NATIONAL TRUST TURNED UP* - VW Camper Van

Another trip out in my Camper Van "Jeff" with my dog Branston to a beautiful location in the Lake District called Walner Scar - I wanted this one to be about relaxing and getting some nice photographs for my portfolio and I am super happy with the results. The National Trust turned up though.... Eeek!!

Been up Walna Scar countless times , love that walk , I've always stopped at Turner Hall farm ,which is only about a hundred yards from where you first parked up , it's as near to wild camping with facilities as you can get , and the pub is only 10 minutes walk. I'm watching this video whilst pitched up in my T4 at Kettlwell camping , I'm the only one on the site, fabulous.

My favourite part of the lake district, quiet amazing views rough as in places but so picturesque and you'll find the best pub in the Lake District hidden away but can't say as where, as its anadevnture in itself. Cracking vid again Colin,roll on next Friday😁😁

Love the Lakes vids! Cherish the time with Branston while he's still fit and healthy. We lost our greyhound last summer. He loved going camping in our van and we had many happy adventures together. We miss him everyday.

Haha EY up buddy, when I first built the van (before I had a KZbin channel), I bought the full kit to have body coloured bumpers, fit them and didn't like them 🤣🤣 (weird I know 🤣🤣) I really like the commercial rugged look.

Brilliant video Colin. Really like the new intro. Perhaps you should do a low alcohol beer tasting as part of your vids? Drone footage adds an extra element but keep it on cine mode to ensure smooth flight and video. Oh and beer opener the wrong way up - is that just for drinking Fosters? 🤣

Some very good images Colin. Cows,in particular if the have calves,do not like dogs and will charge toward the dog. In these situations I leave my dog off the lead. She is well behaved and will walk by my side. In the event of the cows charging she will run away from the cows and divert them from me.

Those crisp winter mornings of shallow mist and fog with the inversion are my favourite - especially with the day job flying helicopters for the Royal Navy - but looking forward to stepping out the van in the future and having the time to take it all in. Loved the ‘creaky hinge mix’ …but you missed a bit - insignia’s got everything shampoo to shower gel - you forgot - deodorant and aftershave for that one all over smell! 😆 I thought it was only me that remembered rubbish 80’s adverts. "I think we are going to get a super sunset tonight, I have an idea for an image in the morning if that happens" - you may need to explain that phenomena to me. I always took the image of the super sunset - and then hoped that super sunrise would follow. 🤣 Love the reflection images at the tarn - they looked very decent. So chuffed you got that epic lone tree shot with the moody sky, and it suits the monochrome processing. Camera's and vans - yep two epic topics. Ridgemonkey - I find if I grip the handle tight, and it pinches the two halves tight, nothing comes out - as I have had that amazing running fats experience around my van. Very annoying, but thankfully cleaned up okay with a little elbow grease.

Another belter. A question about the Bowden generator. Is it connected to the leisure battery. I’m not going to be doing a great deal of wild camping so don’t need a solar panel. However, my t6 leisure battery will last 2 days. Will the generator top up the leisure battery. Thanks guru Colin

Hiya buddy and thanks dude, it's a stand alone power generator. I plug the battery charger (that's connected to the leisure battery) in to it to help top up the leisure battery. However, the generator and the leisure battery are all topped up by solar so that I don't have to think about charging the power bank, nor the leisure battery all the time. When on hook up, the battery charger is plugged in to a mains socket to keep the leisure battery charged... Hope this helps buddy

I think the header of the National Trust turning up was a bit of click bait to be honest, don’t you? I was interested in what the outcome would have been of meeting officialdom as we are not allowed to wild camp in the national park. Regardless it was an enjoyable video.

In answer to your question, I think that if something does happen in a video (acording to the title) then for me I wouldnt class it as click bait. The National Trust did (as you know) turn up - Its all down to individual interpretation on it i suppose. If the NT just drove by in a short 2 second clip then yes it would be click bait, but they turned up, talked with me and we chatted about cameras and wild camping ;) Have an ace day and enjoy the future videos ;)

Got an ordinary 'double burner' hot plate from b@m for £35 last summer and you can use any pan on it and it runs on the hook up. Bought for tent camping, the space in the van is more important when we are campervanning than saving 2p on gas. All you are doing is filling the van up with unnecessary sh1te.

Haha true matey, Think you've commented on the wrong vid though 😂😂! The reason I got this induction hob was because it's variable wattage so I can use it on hook up and with my generator. If I were to build the van again, I wouldn't even install gas burners..
