That is happening this month. I want to fish the docks going up the mainlake to the left of the boat ramp. I might be there next Saturday, if not then it will be the next weekend. 👍

Plopper is fun, that size 90 is killer in the fall.

It's probably my favorite size in Chrome/Black on Hartwell in general. I have a 75 in bluegill that I like other lakes and a 110 in bone that I never use. I keep telling myself to put that 110 on and see what takes it. I might tie it on Succession before the event. Those lakes fish similar IMO. I trust the buzzbait to get bigger bites so I might have that ready to go.

It’s wild how trends come and go in fishing. When the whopper plopper first came out, everyone was using it. The buzz bait was nowhere to be found and kinda fell out of favor. But Last year I didn’t see anyone throwing a plopper-it was buzzbait everywhere. Now this year, I’m seeing the plopper coming back into the rotation. I like the plopper better when I’m not contending with grass and weeds along the bank. You can throw it a mile and still get a decent hookset with the trebles even when there’s a football field between you and your lure. That’s tougher to do with a buzzbait. I’ll throw the buzzbait when there’s grass or lay downs and I really want to get in (and overtop) the cover without getting hung up. Eve though they do essentially the same thing, there’s definitely a place for both.

I am looking to cycle through, but I got to be honest. The whopper plopper is boring to me. It's just too easy most times. Toss it out and retrieve in. Sure you can pause and adjust speed, but that is it. The fish seem smaller on it too. In the fall the buzzbait is the first lure I am going to go to and I will stay on it all day. I want the big girls up close to the shore and feeding. That said, I might have it tied on this Saturday on Secession. I am going all out big baits. Whopper Plopper 130F, 1.5 oz soft swimbait, glidebait, hard body swimbait, and a giant worm. Maybe the 130F will get the bites I am after.

Top water is the best! I don’t think I’ve landed a top water fish yet this year. I’ve had a couple frog blowups but nothing on the Choppo yet.

It was the same up to this point for me. I finally just said I needed to make it happen and I seem to have picked a good day for it. I caught a few more yesterday but I was just gassed and ended the day early.

When the top water bite is on, it can be a glorious day. I have found my favorite size Whopper Plopper is the 75.

I have a size 75 in bluegill and have good luck with it on Russell. They seem to like the long skinny imitators on Hartwell, but that is likely me. What's your colors for it?

My man, life is great. I enjoyed this day. I enjoyed every day of my vacation. Glad you got out there but wish the fish were biting. With it being so hot, a jig or shaky head around docks is pretty decent, but they still have be hungry lol. Awesome on the tan. I look like leather right now after being out so much 🤣

Such and easy lure to use. I wish I could find a buzz bait that floats or was slower sinking. That makes a world of difference on how much effort you have to put into the lure.

That one had the best blowup without a doubt. Everything was so weak on the other blowups that I wondered if maybe I should have switched to the glidebait for a some subsurface action but when you finally get on the topwater, it's almost impossible to put to down when they keep biting. I like that blowup or the offshore one the most right behind it becuase I didn't think that one would work lol.
