Lake Kivu - The World's Largest Exploding Lake 🦇

Continuing our Rwandan road trip, my friends and I drove along the shore of Lake Kivu from Gisenyi to Kibuye. We stayed at Rwiza Village and took a boat trip out to Napoleon Island, which is famed for its colony of fruit bats. Join us on our adventure and learn about the world's largest exploding lake!

Avoid Fridays due to the cattle market. You can book a boat at reception about an hour before you want to go. Current cost is 30,000 (roughly $30) per hour. It's a one-hour trip to Amahoro Island or two hours to Napoleon Island.

We are going to visit with an eye toward eventually moving there, and your videos are great. We're American, and some of my family is white, some black, and I think that nearby Uganda has laws against interracial marriage. Would people in Rwanda treat us oddly?

Glad you like the videos. I've never heard that about Uganda, I'd be surprised if it's true. There's no issue with interracial marriage in Rwanda. Everyone's welcome.
