Hey man, I love fishing for white bass and crappie at my local dams whether river or lakes. My personal favorite bait is a 1/16 swimbait jig head and smallswim bait that is a more natural color. Small jerkbaits, spoons, and of course a minnow under a bobber are other methods I fish!

It's crazy how selective they can be. I do a lot of dead-sticking on my local, highly pressured water, and will integrate finger-taps on the rod with a slow rise to get bit. So fun figuring out the bite 😊

I’ve noticed in Missouri in the winter color doesn’t matter most the time shape and size is more of my go too move in the winter. Most the time a three inch lure down to 1/2 inch hand tied hair jigs. Mostly deer tail

Depth. Speed. Structure. Size, color and scent. In that order? = Success. Weather and water conditions change these variables and keeps it challenging. I love fishing. Jerking a lure or jig rarely works for crappie for me, with a spoon being the exception in cold water. Slow and steady or dead sticking works best where I'm at. A SLOW lift and drop can do it (speed).

If it comes to a stationary jiggle, and you're in shallow water, a small bobber can make it easy as long as the wind and waves aren't extreme. I dig how you figured it all out.

In the last forty years of crappie fishing, I've never used anything but jigs. Tried minnows once, too much trouble and the fish didn't like them anymore then they did the jigs.

500 or 1000 spinning reel 8ft6" ultralight rod, 4 lb test. They'll eat a jig on a bobber if you can find them. Jig the bobber like a ned rig, let it dead stick.for 30 seconds. 2 to 4 ft between jig & strike indicator
