Tonka's shouldn't be scrapped .. there already has been a ton of cash spent on the weapon systems .. etc , Storm Shadow , Brimstone .. etc . It is a proven and highly capable platform .. to break them up would sheer lunacy ....

The pilots feel the same way and have said so on TV.

You do realize that planes don't fly forever, they have a limit of flying hours and they've reached that limit, most of the aircraft being scrapped have only a few hours of life remaining

Nice shot of the F-35 doing the short take off. First time I have seen it. Have seen the vertical take off before.

I wonder y the f 35 uses the vertical take off method when on land. Im sur lik its sister it has the ability to take off without this use. The Navy uses both variations on our carriers so y do they do it. Is it bcuz they can't slow down on approach or that it vectors its thrust to assist in take off. Im sur its a control implemented lik it's predecessor the Harrier or even the v 22. I may b wrong but id assume it could land the same way but yet they apply it on ground based landings also but not on carriers obviously. Does anyone kno.

Is there a date for the final tornado flight?
@AvengerII5 жыл бұрын
End of March 2019. I'm sure there'll be an "official" public ceremony flight but they'll probably fly one or two planes PAST that date. They'll either use them in tests to support the active inventory (F-35, Eurofighter) or fly them to museums like they've done tons of times in the US. That happened in the US with the F-14. It was technically retired on Sept 22, 2006 but they flew one from Virginia in the southern US to New York on October 4, 2006. The October 4th flight was THE final flight of an American F-14. That plane was displayed at an airport for a few years and then transported to a museum. Heck, they STILL have F-117s flying on tests in Nevada all the time and that type was retired from combat in 2008!

@@AvengerII Final flight of the Tornado's is the 28th of Feb 2019, at the Marham Base. I'm Hoping to attend
@AvengerII5 жыл бұрын
@@john45305 I thought the retirement was in March. They moved it up? That's UK only. Italy and German are keeping their Tornadoes for at least another 6 years. I don't know about the Saudis. They may still have the IDS model in service but they retired their ADV models around the same time as the UK...

The Tornado like the buccaneer looks like it can fly through anything. F35 doesn't. May do later with upgrades
